Shopping portals for eBay no longer work for third-party gift card purchases since a few months ago. The one portal that remained was the iBotta app. They were paying 2%, then lowered it to 1%, and consistently tracked gift card purchases on eBay.
Yesterday, iBotta overhauled their app design. They also added terms excluding any kind of gift card from earning cash back on eBay.
No cash back will be earned on the purchase of gift cards or gift certificates of any kind
A friend made a gift card purchase yesterday using iBotta and the app denied the cash back. “Unfortunately, your purchase did not qualify for cash back.”
Ibotta made a positive change to the app that you no longer have to Unlock Rebate for online purchases – it now works more like an ordinary online shopping portal. We’ve updated our iBotta review to reflect that change.

How do you guys even find this? I was not even aware of its existence and I dont think it's on cashbackmonitor? :D
Word of mouth. I never blogged about it since I thought the company was too small for that kind of exposure.
They claim they paid out $100,000,000 last year.
Ibotta is a tricky company. They refused to cashback me the purchases from Boxed.com. They used all kinds of excuses not to credit. I'd suggest to avoid it.
pretty sure boxed refused to credit them. i get my boxed cashback declined almost everywhere.
But why Ibotta used all kinds of different, ridiculous reasons not to cashback? If Ibotta advertises 10% cashback for Boxed, Ibotta needs to honor it.
Never mind, found it :)
Hey DoC,
Can you please create a dedicated iBotta referral link? They're running a promo of 30$ for 3 referrals.
