Eligibility

The Fine Print

The fine print is based on the Arizona Bank & Trust bonus, but is basically the same regardless.

  • $350 bonus offer is not available to existing Citywide Banks consumer checking customers or those who have been paid a new account opening bonus since January 1, 2018
  • Bonuses only apply when opening a new consumer checking account at Arizona Bank & Trust or arizbank.com during the promotional bonus period.
  • The promotional bonus period is 06/01/2018 – 08/31/2018.
  • If the account is closed by the customer or bank within 90 business days after opening, we may deduct bonuses earned and received at closing and a $25 account closing fee may be assessed.
  • Closing the account will negate any unearned bonuses.
  • All bonus dollars will be paid to the newly opened checking account.
  • If multiple checking accounts are opened during the promotional bonus period under the same primary owner name, the bonuses will be paid to the account that was opened first. Limit one bonus per new consumer account relationship.
  • A $30 bonus will be given for enrolling in eStatements within 60 calendar days of account opening and a $170 bonus will be given if one (1) direct deposit of $500 or more post to the account within the first 60 calendar days of account opening. Direct Deposit examples include payroll, pension, Social Security or other government benefits. Bonuses will be paid within 90 business days after account is opened.
  • An IRS 1099 form may be issued.
  • The offer cannot be used in conjunction or combination with any other deposit offer. Health Savings Accounts are not eligible for the promotion.

$700 bonus:

  • $700 bonus offer is not available to existing First Community Bank consumer checking customers or those who had accounts open on or before August 31, 2018.
  • Offer available when opening a new Consumer Checking Account relationship at First Community Bank or FCB-Keokuk.com during the promotional bonus period.
  • A$30 bonus will be given for enrolling in eStatements within 60 calendar days of account opening and a $170 bonus will be given if one (1) direct deposit of $500 or more post to the account within the first 60 calendar days of account opening.
  • Direct Deposit examples include payroll, pension, Social Security or other government benefits.
  • In addition, when opening a consumer Signature Series Checking Account, receive a $300 bonus for having total balance of at least $50,000 at 15 calendar days after account opening and a total balance of at least $50,000 at 60 calendar days after account opening to receive a $200 bonus. Bonuses will be paid within 90 business days after the promotional bonus period has ended. Minimum to open and APY given on consumer checking accounts varies by products selected. The promotional bonus period is 09/05/2018-12/31/2018. If the account is closed by the customer or bank within 90 business days after opening, we may deduct bonuses earned and received and a $25 account closing fee may be assessed. Closing the account will negate any unearned bonuses. All bonus dollars will be paid to the newly opened checking account. If multiple checking accounts are opened during the promotional bonus period under the same primary owner name, the bonuses will be paid to the account that was opened first. Signature Series Bonus will be paid to the Signature Series account. Limit one bonus per new consumer account relationship. HSA and Fiduciary accounts are excluded. An IRS 1099 form maybe issued. Geographic restrictions may apply. Account opening is subject to approval.

Avoiding Fees

They offer a free checking account with no monthly fees to worry about. If the account is closed within 90 days of account opening they will deduct the bonus and a $25 early account termination fee is charged.

Our Verdict

They offered a $500 bonus in 2016, obviously that bonus was much better but $200 still isn’t bad and I’m not sure we will see that bigger $500 bonus again. The positive is that you can open the account online this time rather than having to go in branch (maybe credit card funding is possible now as well?) You should also be able to do this deal even if you’ve done the previous deal as long as you didn’t have an account open on or before October 31st, 2017. That actually looks incorrect as pointed out in the comments. I’ll be adding this to the best bank account bonuses.

  • The link doesnt work. Based off their website it look like you have to set the account up through a video call with a banker

  • I got the Morrill and Janes Bank and Trust Bonus in 2018. Will that disqualify me for this Bank of Blue Valley bonus?

  • Was excited to see my state (KS) listed, but turns out online application is only available for certain zip codes and it seems to be pretty strict. I'm in northeast KS but not in a county where they have a branch. Called just to make sure and they said you had to be within a certain number of miles of a branch to sign up. Looks like they're in the KC area and Sabetha, KS.

Could probably do an in person application but that's not so realistic given COVID restrictions, plus it's not quite worth it for me. I prefer to work in 2P mode to double up on everything and given that P2 doesn't want to bother with these it would just be the $350. Easily worth an hour drive each way for $700 if she would do it, but it'll never happen. The joys of one person playing in 2P mode. On to waiting for the next one....

  • I ran into some stupidity in the system when trying to enroll in online banking after receiving the approval email. I enrolled online and got an error saying I was already registered. I called to inquire further and it resulted in 30 minutes of phone rep confusion. Apparently attempting to setup online banking before the funding posts results in an ill-documented error. Perhaps I just got unlucky but hopefully this might help others.

  • I used my Citi Double Cash card to fund $700 at WI Bank and Trust, posted as a transaction.

Is there a reason this is not listed on the "Best Bank Deals" page?
