  • There is a better 90K after 3K send in 6 months offer for the Gold ($150 fee waived for first year) when you sign up for a delta miles account. It may not apply for most people as almost everyone has already gotten a Delta skymies. I never had one , but found it while I was creating a Skymiles account # to input on my 80k offer. Then I ditched the 80K offer and continued with the 90K offer and got approved. @6

    • never even got this card, but I'm in popup jail for personal gold due to churning biz gold and personal+biz plat like 7 years ago, lol

  • Just applied for the Gold Business and got declined. The reason was I have a maximum number of cards...LOL.

  • Do you cancel the card then before the year is up so you don't get charged the annual fee for the next year?

    • Don't f with Amex on this unless you wanna join the pop-up jail community. I had to learn the hard way. Read the terms & conditions. You'll have to eat the AF for at least 2 years before you cancel your card.

    • Canceling in the first year can lead to a claw back of points and/or bad standing with the company on future products.

    • Never cancel before waiting a full year, companies don't like that. Instead, wait the year and for the annual fee to hit. Then call and see if they have any retention offers to offset the fee. If not, cancel and they will refund the fee. Same outcome, but you maintain a better reputation with the company.

  • Got a targeted offer in snail mail for the Platinum. 100K after $5K spend in 6 months. URL is http://delta.com/100kplatinum and requires Skymiles member ID. After logging in, I also saw an 85K offer for the Gold ($4K spend in 6 months).

There is also a 100K offer for the Reserve.

  • I got the 40k, $500, fee waved personal Gold offer. Used incognito window in Chrome to search a JFK to LAX Delta One flight and offer was on the payment page (didn't get the offer in a non-incognito window logged into my account btw). Applied and got accepted. Seems like a decent deal seeing as you only have to make a Delta purchase for the $500 which I presume could be as low as paying taxes on a miles redemption flight?

I also applied for the Platinum card. Got to the page with the 90k offer in an incognito window. However after submitting the application but before the final credit check and acceptance of the application, the offer dropped to 60k which didn't seem worth it so I canceled the application. Did the same for the Gold card for the 80k offer. Interestingly, none of this seemed to impact my acceptance for the above Gold offer which I finally took.

        • According to some Reddit posts, clicking "Continue to Review & Pay" after clicking the "Apply" checkbox will initiate the CC application process, so it doesn't look like you really need to purchase the ticket.

I just got a $400 + 50k offer while in incognito mode, but it also required $6k minimum spend, so not a great deal

          • Yes but the $500 Statement Credit as they call it is only applicable if you book a Delta flight (or do a purchase from Delta). I got a slightly elivated offer of $500 Statement credit + 50K points.
