Instacart+ Benefit Changes

Instacart sent out an email with ba change in benefits for the Instacart+ members. Lots of us still have that membership free from having various Chase cards. (That benefit is expired, but is still active for those who enrolled earlier this year.)

Benefits being removed:

  • 5% credit back on pickup orders, benefit is being removed effective immediately. (Update: others are not having their 5% pickup benefit going away at this time.)
  • Reduced service fees, benefit will be removed effective 3/1/25.

Additions:

Instacart+ is offering $0 delivery fees on grocery & retail orders of $10 or more through 12/31/24. That’s instead of the normal $35 minimum.

The email also touts numerous new benefits which were added over the past year:

  • $0 delivery fees* on eligible orders from your favorite local restaurants, powered by Uber Eats
  • Extended sharing of your $0 delivery fee benefit with family (up to 3 people)
  • Peacock streaming ($79.99 value)
  • New York Times Cooking 1-year subscription for annual Instacart+ members ($50 value)

  • My email said the 5% credit is going away effective immediately, but I did a test order (although I didn't check out completely) and it said I would still get it on the Place Order screen.

It's a shame it's going away, though. It's been part of my biggest money-saver: 20% off Instacart gift cards from Costco + 5% pickup credit + store that uses in-store pricing = easy 25% off all groceries

  • Looks like the 5% credit is gone, regardless of what the email says. My email didn’t mention it but the 5% credit is no longer listed under benefits within the app.

  • I'm going to miss not having to pay extra for some poor soul to brave the crowded Costco in the next town over on a Saturday, find my 20 random bulky items in different corners of the store and drive them to my home. It was a huge time and stress saver.

    • Costco is open every day of the week. Saturday is the worst possible time to go a Costco, and if that's your benchmark for how much time and stress you're saving by using Instacart then you're doing it wrong.

  • Has anyone used the Peacock benefit? I have an annual plan that I got for free last year (with AmEx credits), and it's expiring in a couple of days. If I trigger the IC benefit, can I re-activate my old Peacock account, or will I have to create a new one?

  • i ordered a vitamix from costco through instacart yesterday (turns out $40 savings when stacking with the 20% instacart GC from costco despite the increase price, tip, fee). however, despite i have instacart+, i was still charged a 5.95 service fee...

  • Love how they try to portray the benefits they are killing as being "retired", while effectively not adding anything of permanent value.

  • I received two different versions of this email (two different accounts). In one email they mentioned that the 5% pickup credit is going away. The other email did not mention it. As of right now, the credit is still active.
