  • so it applied to my account but there are no Family Dollar stores in my area (Portland).. anyone have any success using this with any other stores?

    • No, but your order may not be delivered at your requested time/day. I’m a shopper for Instacart. One time I shopped an order for an older lady. When I got to her house we started talking and she said her order was supposed to be delivered the day before but Instacart said there was an issue. The issue was nobody wanted to accept it due to low pay and no tip. I ended up accepting it when Instacart offered something like $28 for the order. Shopped and delivered it in under one hour. Instacart starts off by offering shoppers $7 per order plus the tip. If you have a large order, nobody is going to accept it. Maybe they will if it’s like 1 item and your house is around the corner. I saw an order one time for 100 items with no tip, the order also had like 4 cases of water. Instacart started it at $9, $2 extra for heavy pay.

      • Thank you so much for your work. Please share with us if there are anything we can do to make your job easier. Like I was just messaging with the shopper asking her not to get the roast much bigger then I ordered. Was it annoying to you guys? What do you hate the most? Obviously heavy items with no or little tip is a no-no. I told her no need to beat the scheduled delivery time. Was it helpful?

      • Interesting, so the shopper can see the initial tip before taking the order? I usually set it to $0, then tip after the order is delivered (10-20%) based on the service provided. I have never had a problem receiving my orders though; perhaps because I'm an Express member and get priority.

    • I would say yes, at my own conscience, because none of those fees go to the delivery person who is the one doing the hardest job.

      • they get paid something by instacart, so the fees are contributing, but it's probably not enough without some level of tipping

    • Membership and service fee go to the company. Tip goes to the shopper that's actually shopping and delivering.

      • Some of the fee definitely go to the shopper. Instacart also adds a surcharge for "paid sick leave" and other things when ordering.
