As part of the new site redesign we will be starting to tag posts. For example these new posts have the following tags:
- Marriott Raises $920 Million In Cash From American Express & Chase. Tags:
- Marriott
- Chase
- American Express
- Ruby Tuesday: Free Burger Or Chicken Sandwich For Teachers. Tags
- Free food
- Teachers
- Ruby Tuesday
This will allow us to do some cool things in the future and should hopefully make it easier to discover content. You should be able to see each tag at the end of each post. If you think we should use a tag that we haven’t used, just let us know in the comments of the specific post and we will add it. Obviously older posts won’t have these tags and in most cases we won’t be retroactively adding them.

Maybe also tag American Express related articles with #amex.
Prefer not to double dip like that
Perhaps an "Expired" tag that will automatically remove articles from lists like https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-bank-account-bonuses/ . It is annoying that so many on that list have expired, some of them months ago.
If you see any of them expired please let me know and I'll remove them ASAP
All of these have "expired" at the beginning of their title:

Do you know how to run a Perl script? If so, just run this occasionally and it will list all the expired ones for you: https://www.electricrose.com/expired.pl
Thanks, will update
Your name in your post links to https://www.doctorofcredit.com/author/will/ but that doesn't appear to work anymore.
Thanks, yeah those redirect to the homepage for now
Appears to have expired in 2019: 4.36 CIBC US $200/$400 Checking Bonus – IL, MI, MO & WI, In Branch only
Besides what's been started in this post, will there be a reference post with all of the new tags or incorporation of tags into search as suggestions perhaps? @will
There won't be a post with all tags as there will be lots of them. Maybe I can do a post with some of the more useful ones after we've been using them for a bit?
That might work! It's an interesting feature idea that I hope gathers traction. Coming through the RSS feed, they're pretty seamless already and could make building out filters on the user side even quicker.
I do wish there is one day you guys can publish a mobile app.
Thank you, this is great. Your search was good enough, but tags will get us to where we wanted more quickly.
I how ever have one request - on search results, is it possible to sort by the posted/edited date so we always get the latest one by default?
It already sorts by newest first. We will be making a major change to search soon though after the new design settles
Tags should be comma separated to minimize scrolling. Will we be able to search by tags? If we searched for “free food”, would Ruby Tuesday come up? Also, please increase the # of posts per page. Looking forward to seeing a new design. Thanks for what you’ve been doing. Keep it up.
They are comma separated, see the end of the post for an example of what it looks like in practice. You won't be able to search by tags, but you'll be able to see all posts that are tagged with a something specific (e.g clicking on free food would show Ruby Tuesday).
Awesome new feature DoC!
Thanks Doc. This is a very useful update.
Nice!
Whatever you do, please stay strong and preserve the culture.
Why would someone with $920M in cash need a free burger from Ruby Tuesday?
Asking for a friend.
