Reddit user C-MontgomeryChurns reports receiving an e-mail from JAL hinting at a new credit card. Relevant part of the e-mail is as follows:
Important notice about current JAL USA CARD
Applications for the current card will close on before launch.
Existing issued cards will remain valid and can be used after launch.
Extra Benefits Await:
Launch Promotion Starting Soon
Details will be sent to you via email.
Stay tuned for more details.
The current card is issued by FNBO and isn’t very good with the standard sign up bonus being only 5,000 points. I doubt we will see an attractive sign up bonus even with a new issuer but I’d love to be proven wrong.

I got a similar email this morning as wel.
i lived in japan and i realized when i was researching and applying for credit cards there that in general, the credit card sign up bonuses are crap. i won't be surprised at all if this new credit card's sign up bonus is crap as well. we're definitely spoiled in the u.s. with the great offers all the time for different credit cards.
Maybe they finally realized they can make bank off US consumers selling miles...European carriers figured this out
Churning as a hobby is extremely unsustainable and unrewarding outside of NA.
Aussies have decent sign up bonuses but pretty bad on-going spend rates. That's the only other area of the world I can think of that has a decent churning scene.
Maybe I can redeem them for an Asahi Beer … yeehawwwwww
5k lol. That won't even fly you from KIX to FUK!
Well, there is always an option to SUK / DIK...
I mean anyone who doesn't like the sub can do FUK - OFF on their own dime
Looking forward to their new nonstop from Fresno to Fukuoka (FAT-FUK)
Genius!
It might get you to PUS!
It's 5k miles only after taking JAL international flight !
