  • Clipped the free mo coupon, went to store bought 1k mo by using Simon VGC, cashier thought she made mistake and want to cancel my order and redo, I hurried told her it's free coupon there, no mistake on her part, so I swipe and type last 4# and got my mo. Unfortunately it's one time use only, lol

  • Wait, so are there any current datapoints that you can use VGC's to purchase MO's at ANY Ralphs/Krogers? Where else are people doing this besides WM?

    • Most KR's here have signs saying that they do not accept prepaid cards to pay for money orders. (Basically it has to have your name on it.)

If you get lucky enough to find a store that works , please be smart and don't "Auto Drain" Cards. It's obvious that normal debit cards don't work that way.

        • do you buy a $1000 money order using 2 VGC's of $500 each? or just do 1 money order for each $500 VGC you liquidate? I thought I am struck when my local WM stopped accepting VGCs.

    • City Market (kroger store) is my go-to for liquidating VGC due to location convenience. I have never had an issue. The MO fee is normally $0.98 which is an extra 10 cents over Walmart. I'm pretty sure its $0.88 if you use your Kroger card, but I'd rather not have them keep track of all the MO i buy.

  • For the free Bill Pay: Are there a good assortment of bills that can be paid with credit card, or is it Cash/Debit like buying a money order?

    • Prepaid as in VGC? I have liquidated about $25k at City Market (a Kroger store) in the last 6 months with no issues.

    • I think some of these depend on region. My Kroger never hard coded, but has signs up that they don't accept prepaid cards.

I thought I read that Kroger in some areas were hard coded.
