Avoiding Fees + 3.25% Requirements

Their free checking account has no monthly fees. Their rewards checking account also has no monthly fee. It earns a rate of 3.25% APY if the following requirements are met (up to a balance of $10,000):

  • Have at least 12 debit card transactions post and clear per qualification cycle
  • Have at least one Direct Deposit, ACH Auto Debit, or Bill Pay post and clear per qualification cycle
  • Access Online Banking
  • Receive Monthly eStatements

Your account also needs to be kept open for six months to get the bonus, their is also a $15 fee if you close within this time frame.

Our Verdict

This is a pretty good bonus if it’s a soft pull and you don’t live too far from a branch. I assume that you won’t be able to fund with a credit card due to the in branch opening requirement.
