List of 0% APR Credit Card Offers

General

During the current high-interest environment, 0% APR offers can be useful for cashing out and parking the cash in a high-yield savings account or CD. These are typically found with new credit card approvals, and occasionally banks will send them out for existing customers as well.

Some readers asked for a list of 0% APR cards, and so I’ve put what I found (some from the comments a recent post where I discussed using a 0% APR offer). Hopefully readers will add and update this list as things evolve. I’ll try adding below any 0% offer of 12 months or longer. Feel free to discuss offers and strategies in the comments below.

Below we’ve listed all cards we’ve found which have 0% APR on purchases and/or balance transfers for 12 months or more. If you use the 0% purchases option there won’t be any fees. Most 0% balance transfer offers have an initial fee, typically it’s 3-5%. We’ve listed below a few options with no fee at all.

We only list cards which have a completely fee-free option: either 0% APR on purchases or 0% on balance transfers with no initial balance transfer fee.

Caveats

A few caveats:

  1. Be sure to always double-check that there is no initial transaction fee (typically it’s 3%), especially for balance transfers – even when it’s 0% there’s often an initial 3% fee with those.
  2. Always be sure to check the details well before applying on the actual card application page. Offers are constantly changing, and even the same card might have differing APR offers, depending on the card version or the offer landing page.
  3. With some banks you only get a small window (say, 60 days) where you can make a purchase or balance transfer to trigger the 0% APR offer. With other issuers, you get the full offer window (e.g. 12 months) to make the purchase or transfer and still get the 0% APR offer.
  4. And finally, be sure to always make the minimum payments. And be sure to pay off the balance entirely before the promotional period ends!

A few other general notes:

  1. Many banks will allow you to reallocate your credit lines. If you have a card with 0% APR, you might easily be able to shift over credit from a different card to increase your credit line on the 0% card. See this post for a bank-by-bank break down.
  2. If you carry a balance on a personal credit card it can have a major negative impact on your credit score.
  3. If you carry a balance on a business credit card it typically will not affect your personal credit score. See this post where we break this down bank-by-bank.
  4. If you quickly rack up a lot of debt on your credit report or with a given bank, it might make them nervous about bust-out fraud and can potentially result in shutdowns.
  5. Even when done slowly, some banks might be less likely to approve your future credit card applications.
  6. If you are someone who struggles with debt, playing this APR game is probably not best for you.

  • Would it be possible to balance transfer from a USBank card to Edward Jones Biz Plus (Elan / USBank division)? Otherwise, from Edward Jones to a checking account?

In my experience, USBank won't allow a Balance Transfer request to a checking account.

    Thank you!

    • I know Bank of America does direct deposit cash advances; they charge the amount you want to the card and then transfer the money to your checking account. I think that's what you are looking for. The lowest I've seen on their offers in a 3% transfer fee.

    • I think there is an option as other creditor and its possible to put any name and address. What if put yourself and they send a check via mail then deposit it to your checking account. Not tested though

      • I tried putting myself and p2 in balance transfer request, but it errors out. Probably doesn't like residential address.

Also I tried putting brokerage account info like address for mail in checks and account number, request went through but it didn't deposit after more than a week and balance didn't increase on EJ side.

      • Discover allows balance transfers to a checking account and offers me 0% APR for 10 months with a 4% fee. I'm not sure about other banks' policies regarding balance transfers.

  • Is anyone else having issues with their Edward Jones card? I did the BT and then spent 1k for the SUB, but now all payments, even when trying to pay the full 1k for the SUB in full only counts toward the 0% balance and I'm stuck with the 1k accruing interest charged. I'm not sure how to fix it without having to pay off the entire BT balance that is supposed to be on 0% for a year, very frustrating

    • They told me they cannot apply any payments to just purchases and if I return the items from my purchase that wouldn't even get rid of the purchase cuz that amount returned will just go toward the BT balance. Real sucky.

      • Dems the breaks. Balance transfer tranches are not protected from sketchy tactics of allocation of payments beyond minimum that consumer protection laws fixed for purchase % (interest vs balance owed). Meaning they can indeed force you to pay off the whole BT balance first before.

If you don't want to pay any interest, you basically should just pay off the BT and eat the hard pull. At least you got the $150 spending bonus...(which is annoying to burn through; you can use via Paypal IIRC).

You may be able to cycle the balance transfer? I forget the terms, but it it's do a BT within X days to get the 0%. Maybe you can pay it all off and then it will free up $ space to do a new BT.

        • Correction to above: being a BUSINESS is the reason why the CARD Act allocation to highest % for excess of minimum payment does not apply.

        • I thought payments beyond the balance due were supposed to go toward the highest APR first under the latest consumer protection laws?

          • You're correct, the CARD Act did address allocation of payments for consumer cards. The reason it does not apply here is because the card is a business card.

For a normal consumer card the allocation of payments in excess of the minimum should indeed go to the purchases first, which are subject to the highest APY (or cash advances). But because this is a business card the CARD Act protection unfortunately does not apply.

I was misremembering and was probably thinking about the deferred interest exception for Reg Z (for consumer cards still). Apologies.
            @guest_1972414

    • Ugh, just happened to me too and it sucks! They basically said I'll be getting interest charges from here on out until the whole card is paid in full. I wish their was a separate specific thread on this card so important data points like this would be easier to fine. This completely ruins the intent of the card.

    • I looked up at card terms and they state at p17 that they apply payments to promo balance first and then to higher rates balances

    • Unfortunately you should have made the 1k purchase and paid it off in full before making the BT. I don’t know if there’s a way to fix it without contacting customer service to ask about allocating payment towards the purchase only, which may not be possible.

  • A while back, someone asked if the balance transfer offer for the Edward Jones Biz Mastercard could be used to pay off someone else's card balance. I just did so, so yes, it's possible.

    • Nice datapoint! What about getting a second card while still holding one? They gave me a real sucky credit limit :(.

      • That I can't tell you. But my guess is it's probably not too likely since you'll be bumping up against the total credit limit Elan Financial (the card issuer) is willing to give you unless you state more income than when you applied for your first one.

  • wells fargo business signify has 0% intro offer for 12 months. Get the $500 sign up bonus and float the balance for another $250 or so.

  • @6 Chuck, a few BMO cards to add now that interest is interesting :-)
    BMO Personal Platinum (NOT Plat Rewards): 15mo 0% Purchases / BT 15mo 0% with 3% Fee https://www.bmo.com/en-us/main/personal/credit-cards/bmo-platinum-credit-card/

BMO Business Platinum (NOT Business Plat Rewards): 18mo 0% Purchases / BT 18mo 0% with 4% Fee https://www.bmo.com/en-us/main/business-banking/credit-cards/platinum/

    BMO Business Platinum Rewards: 9mo 0% Purchases / BT 9mo 0% with 4% Fee; *WELCOME BONUS* $500 with $5k in 3mo; Earns 5% on Internet & Phone, 4% Office Supplies & Printing, 3% Gas, 2% Dining https://www.bmo.com/en-us/main/business-banking/credit-cards/platinumrewards/

Very clunky business payment system with separate login that can only be setup once first bill arrives, no auto-pay, etc - but worthwhile for me with bonus and 9mo 0%.

  • Does anyone know when the 0% APR clock starts for balance transfers, in general? Does the promotion 0% APR period start ticking as soon as the card is opened? Or is it from the date of the balance transfer?

    • its gonna be from account opening basically always as far as i know. soon as you open you should do your transfers.

  • Any data points on TDECU (Texas Dow Employees Credit Union)? Appears to have a $0 fee 12 mo 0% APR for balance transfers, personal and business mastercards

  • Edward Jones 0% fee instead of 3% on balance transfers first 60 days + 0% BT APR for 12mo... Any idea how long that's going to run for?

    • Did you have the funds transferred to pay off another card/creditor or were you able to have the funds transferred to your own account? I'm interested in getting the funds in my own account so that I can use them at my discretion. Do you or anybody else have any info on how to do this?

      • EJ cut a check directly to my credit card for the balance transfer. I didn't take possession of the funds nor was I involved in the balance transfer beyond providing the account number and address.

      • Deeper in the comments there have been at least two decent threads on this card. Highlights: A direct link that bypasses the need for an EJ account and tip to select at least 1mo for EJ relationship in the app to keep from getting bounced out.

Instant business card approval today for 16k and EJ offers up to 92% of your limit as a balance transfer, which I specified interest in using during the application.

        https://apply.edwardjonescreditcard.com/oad/begin?locationCode=9681&preparerType=customer

        • This is good info. I may need to try this after the new year. I applied earlier this year and got rejected, but probably because I said I didn't have a relationship with EJ

        • thanks for the tips. Is it that hard to open some kind of EJ account so you can really have a relationship for one month?

just poking around the website it seems like the problem might be you can't open a simple business account online. besides credit card.

        • Did you fill out the balance transfer info during the application? I did but got approved for a CL less than the total of the BT amounts. THey said they'll send a letter, but wonder how they manage which balances to pay, or if I have to confirm first

          • I did fill that out but I had a single account that I was looking to move the balance of. Data point that with EJ's 92% of limit as a BT is that I also did not receive the full amount desired for a BT in my app. Recommend future applicants pad to at least account for the 92% of limit threshold.

  • Chase rejected me - first time ever. I've had 13 Chase cards, 2/24. Closed a few Chase cards, rejected at reconsideration. "Too much unused credit, too many cards, not enough business income."
US Bank gave instant approval on a 2nd Triple Cash Rewards, and BofA on Biz Unlimited Cash Rewards. 12 months no interest on the US Bank; 9 months on the BofA.
Cash sitting in Poppy Bank at 5.35%.

I wouldn't have known to do any of this without DoC and helpful posters. Thank you.
