Lyft Cancels Business Rewards Program

Lyft has decided that it will not be extending the business profile rewards program past March 31st, 2020. Previously business profile riders would receive $5 for every 5 business rides taken.

  • Most of you might not know this but the Business Profile thing is a bit of a scam. I've been using Lyft on the same route for over a year before I decided to switch to the Business Profile, and guess what, I started seeing fares that are consistently $1-$4 higher for the same route, same time of day. Looks like they assume you'd expense the rides to your employer and rip you off accordingly.
I have since closed the profile and switched back and get the old pricing again, so no thanks, that $5 is from the larger sum already stolen from me over the 5 rides.

  • So much for my effective $1 off every ride. That normally put Lyft ahead of Uber in a price compare.

  • The email I received also says “We know you're close to earning your next reward. To make sure you don't miss out, we'll be issuing $5 in ride credit to your personal Lyft account.”

Terms: “The $5 of Lyft rideshare credit will be available in your personal account on April 1, 2020. This credit is not redeemable for cash and has no cash value. This credit expires July 31, 2020. Only applicable in the USA. Excludes tips, bike rides and scooter rides. Valid only for users who received this email directly from Lyft and cannot be transferred. Cannot be combined with other offers. Subject to Lyft terms of service.”

I believe I had 3 of 5 at the time, if that helps anyone. I’m not yet seeing the credit.

  • If business people aren't traveling due to COVID-19, why do you feel the need to cancel it? Womp womp, sounds like a shitty excuse.

    • Probably because Lyft, like every other travel company, is bleeding money right now and are trying to cut costs wherever possible.

      • Exactly. Granted the program was rigged with credit expiration dates and not being allowed to combine credits on rides. Still sucks to see them using COVID-19 as an excuse to end it.
