  • Rockland Trust Bank is offering a bonus of $250 when you open a new free business checking account. You also need to complete the following requirements:
    • Deposit $1,000 in new money.

The Fine Print

  • Limit one promotional account per customer.
  • Offer is non transferrable. Don’t think this is enforced
  • Businesses which currently own or have had a Rockland Trust Business Checking account within the 90 days prior to the account open date are not eligible.
  • To be eligible for the $250 bonus you must open a new Business Checking account with $1,000 of new money to Rockland Trust between November 1, 2017 and January 31, 2018 at our Westwood branch office located at 670 High Street, Westwood, MA.
  • The bonus will be paid directly to your account by April 30, 2018.
  • Bonus payment will be reported to the IRS for the tax year in which it is paid. For new accounts funded by new money to Rockland Trust.
  • Account must be opened by January 31, 2017. Pretty sure this should be 2018.
  • Offer may be discontinued at any time without prior notice.
  • Transaction restrictions apply. See banker for details. Fees may reduce earnings.
  • Offer valid only at our Westwood office location.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

This account has no monthly fees.

Our Verdict

Seems like a great deal if you live near the branch as the only requirements are depositing $1,000. I’ll add this to the best business checking bonuses once we have some more datapoints of people successfully opening the account. They also have a $200 personal bonus that is targeted.

  • Has anyone received their bonus for this one yet? I've had it funded since mid December but still haven't received it.

  • Just to confirm, the initial account funding (even when done with cc) satisfies the bonus deposit requirement ($1000), right?

  • Opened with no issues. Took 1 day for verification before I was emailed a link to docusign and finish, and then fund. Max CC funding is now $2000 @will

  • 1) Can I apply online for this or do I have to go to a specific branch?
    2) If I credit my account with the 2500 with Chase Card, does it count as a purchase or cash advance?
    3) How long would I have to wait before pulling out the 1500 extra that I would be depositing with my card?

    • 1) Presumably online is fine givem the lack of branch availability, just beware online apps are chex sensitive.

      2) Check the data points.. more than likely purchase but would advise lowering CA limit on the card you want to apply with to be on the safe side

      3) Presumably no wait necessary.. after it clears. Technically there doesn't seem to be my mention of keeping the initial deposit for any amount of time, but don't take it all out right away either :p Some banks tend to close zero balance accounts

  • This is also available in branch (minus CC funding) ... went to Burlington, MA. I had churned the biz account about a year and 1/2 ago, just did this $250 offer today and took a copy of the flyer in branch in case of any issues later on. They didn't have any personal checking bonuses at this branch at least. No issues with chex in branch, probably have maybe 10 inquiries this year if I had to guess.

  • "We regret to inform you we are not able to open a new account for you online, based on information contained in a consumer report. If you are still interested in opening a new account, you can visit any branch location to discuss other account options."

  • Tried to apply from Maine and it presumably went thru (accepted state and zip). Declined due to chex.

    • Thanks for the DP, I was thinking of trying from CT but paused bc of their reputation for Chex sensitivity. How many new accounts do you have last 12, 3, 3, 1mo?

    • Applied using real business and EIN. Funding only up to 2k. No hard pull. Got the 1-2 business days for processing. I see the 2k pending charge on my CSP.
