MGM is making changes to it’s loyalty program, including a name change from M Life Rewards to MGM Rewards. The changes go into effect on February 1 and a full list can be seen here. The major changes are as follows:
- Waived resort fees for members with Gold status or above (must book direct)
- Travel credit to Las Vegas for Platinum status and above
- Complimentary tickets to MGM Rewards converts for Pearl status
- 4PM late check for Platinum status and above
- Reduced tier credit earning for non gambling spend (currently 25x, will be 4x)
It seems that the new program is significantly worse for people that actually earn tier credits, but if you’re matching status from Hyatt then the waived resort fees are huge. It might even be worth booking trips speculatively as room rates are extremely low without the resort fees currently.

Hyatt-MGM match appears to be live:
To receive your matched tier with MGM Rewards, click "Learn More."
https://world.hyatt.com/content/gp/en/rewards/other-partnerships/tier-match.html
click "opt in" ...
redirects to mgm to sign in and should give you a modal confirmation:
"Your account had been updated. Your MGM Rewards tier will be matched to your World of Hyatt tier. Please allow up to 24 hours for your new tier to reflect on your account."
Worked immediately for me, but may need to log out/back in to mgm to see the update.
Program is live today but I don't see resort fees being waived when booking. Looks like they're waived upon check in.
That said, my one-night deposit is only for the room rate and tax, doesn't include resort fees.
So how does the Mlife credit card factor into the changes. Does it still earn both tier credits and points. Can the points be used for either resort charges or slot play?
Resort Fee is a scam anyways. You are supposed to be able to opt out of a "Fee". Internet and a gym is not worth more than the room itself!
A mandatory fee is less like a "fee" for doing something extra, and more like a "mandatory booking charge"
Anybody managed to match from Hyatt recently ?
Got Explorist last month, managed to find the page with the OPT IN button, but when I get there and login into M Life, I then get "Page not found" and no status match
I just matched last night and my explorist extended another year to Feb 2023
Ok, but i'm looking at the other way around
Had the same issue a few months ago. I reached out to memberservices@mgmresorts.com with my Hyatt account info and ask them to match it. It was done within a couple of days.
I don't understand
I never pay fees at Caesars Entertainment
I just had many paid stays in New Jersey
How is it best to earn and use compared to Caesars Entertainment and Wyndham and MGM etc?
IMAX in Tropicana is now Caesars Entertainment: I saw the new movie Steven Spielberg's West Side Story
Highly recommended
Great movie!
Can you use reward credits for movie tickets?
Dope
Excalibur ripe for mattress runs?
where can one match to Gold FROM?
Caesar's Diamond
Except MGM does not always do status matches. Last I heard, they weren't right now.
They always do
https://www.mgmresorts.com/en/mlife-rewards-program/tier-match.html
Bummer, I thought they always do it.
Just status matched a couple weeks ago. They are running the Caesars match program through 01/31/22.
Did you do it in Vegas or Borgata? Last i heard they stopped matching in Vegas, only Borgata is matching now. TIA
FYI, there are MGM casinos elsewhere in the US. I did my match from Caesars last summer at MGM National Harbor.
Hyatt Explorist or Globalist
Just scanned our MLife Comped night(s) offers for May 2022.
RESORT FEES have not been nuked.
Program goes live February 1st. If I had to guess you won't see any changes even for future dates until after then. Assuming you are and stay Gold or above.
Sapphire status now. Can get Pearl with new mastercard offer received yesterday in the mail. Should I jump on it?
Marking my calendar.
Will check again and report.
