Avoiding Fees

Easy Banking Club has no monthly fee to worry about. I wasn’t able to find any mention of any early account termination fee in the fee schedule.

Our Verdict

They had a $200 bonus recently but that required opening in branch. This bonus is obviously $150 less but at least you can open online (update, you actually have to still go in branch to open this account). We really need to know more before we can decide if it’s a good or bad bonus so please share your datapoints in the comments. For now it won’t be going in our best checking sign up promotion list.

  • anyone know how strictly the "southwest" michigan thing is enforced? i'd like to milk this, but wife's home address is in eastern MI

  • The application is as I remembered it. Under FAQ on the application:
How quickly will I know if my account has been approved:
We will strive to provide you with a response within a few business hours from your request. In many cases, our clients will apply online and sign their pre-printed documents in one of our conveniently located banking centers the same day.

I therefore ASSUME CC funding won't be an option. I'll know for sure in a couple days though and report back.

  • I see no mention of time limits between bonuses. I got a targeted mailer for $125 that I opened in January and closed in April (less than 3 months: 1/13/17:4/11/17). There was no EATF. Everything was done in branch. As far as I know, only account applications is new as of this promotion. I looked recently, and an account could not be opened online. I have yet to look at this link to see if it truly can be fully opened online, and not: fill out an application online and go to branch to finalize. Once my Marriott card gets here in the next couple days, I will try to open an account and see how getting a bonus in February is handled. I want to be prepared in case they allow CC funding.
