Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

This account has no monthly fees to worry about.

Early Account Termination Fee

As far as I know this account has no monthly fees to worry about.

Our Verdict

Requirements seem easy and according to the terms any ACH should work, but that isn’t always the case. It is a hard pull so not worth doing for everybody but will add to our list of the best checking bonuses.

  • I was able to open an account from one of the 3 listed counties in Indiana - Elkhart, LaGrange, and St. Joseph.

  • DP: In state. But also available for other locations within IN North/West Indiana

6/25/22 - Instant Approval (No Funding Avl)
$5 - Shared is paid for by them.

No promo code- I clicked thru the link to apply and open the account

Hard Pull thru Experian For $200 worth it. Not Chex Sensitive (Crossing fingers it holds).

    • Bonus posts after you wait the 60 days and message them. I used Brex so it’s like a real DP so no harm in contacting them.

If you don’t msg them. No bonus. But no push back and same day if the msg is read that day.

    • They followed up today. I had a gut feeling to answer the call for Battle Creek.

So I recommend to answer it. Asked about Chex and the P2. Of course I’m always looking for competitive mortgage rates

  • Data points:
Live in MI and opened account on 6/25/22

Turned out to be a hard pull - got notifications from chase/Experian monitoring
No credit card funding - The CU makes the opening $5 deposit for you, didn't see a screen to fund via CC
Chex - I open every account I can and got an instant approval

    • How did you fund the checking account? What option did you use ? I tried sending money thru Chase bank but it has takes days to verify my checking account.

      • I didn't have to fund anything at the open. The CU funds the member share. I had a real DD hit today of $100 and will do another one in August to hit the requirements.

For Chase I had an issue linking the accounts. Chase didn't like all the "1000" in the account number. I removed those and entered my account number starting with the first non "0" digit. That worked. Oddly enough my employer took the full number with no issues.

      • Standard info + they also use the credit report history based questions to verify you.
