Our Verdict
Blaze is a combination of HiWay & SPIRE credit union, we have covered them in the past. You won’t be eligible if you’ve had an account with either in the past 12 months. Bonus seems pretty good as a direct deposit isn’t required. It is a hard pull but we will add it to the best bank account bonuses.

I assume "automatic payment" means to setup Billpay? Otherwise I don't understand what that means.
@2,
I just pulled all 3 of my reports. I confirmed that there was no hard pull from Blaze on any of them.
@guest_1777713,
How quickly after applying did you get the alert about the hard pull? I received an immediate alert from OnAlert about the Chex inquiry.
However, I didn't get any alert about getting a hard pull. I am wondering if that is delayed.

@guest_1777709,
Thank you.
I just logged into CK and there is no pull shown on TU or EQ. I'm thinking that the reason might because they denied me almost immediately while they spoke to @guest_1780279 before denying them.
Maybe their 1st test is Chex and then they check the credit report if you pass Chex. What do you think?
Just wait and see.
What do you mean? I was asking why you think that @guest_1780279 got a hard pull and I didn't.
1. Just wait (longer) and see if the hard pull shows up later or it is true they did not hard pull you.
2. Just wait (longer) and see if there are any other DPs (similar or different) before making guesses or inferences.
@2,
The credit card funding allowed is now $250, not $500.
@2,
I don't think that the below line that you have in the post is correct. The terms of the offer show "Offer valid to persons with no prior checking relationship with SPIRE, Hiway or Blaze Credit Union in the last 12 months."
"You won’t be eligible if you’ve had an account with either in the past."
Made clearer
I applied for an account this morning and within minutes I received an email that I was declined for "number [of] financial inquiries".
My stats were pretty similar to @guest_1794241 so they might have become more Chex sensitive in the past couple of months.
DENIED via EMAIL for too many recent financial inquirees
@guest_1812518,
What were your Chex stats before applying?
I don’t know my stats. But I’ve had a lot of new banks opened ( at least 6 in last couple months )
3/11/2024 - Denied OOS, chex, at least 12/20.
Is that supposed to be 12 in 20 months or 20 in 12 months?
@guest_1812287,
I'm tagging you in case you didn't see my reply.
Right it should've been 20/12, 20 in 12 months. and maybe 20/3 too.
I have a feeling that the 20/3 is what did you in.
Received an email within an hour of applying. Denied due to recent number of inquiries.
@guest_1796736,
What were your Chex stats before applying?
Not sure on number but I would say very high.
The debit card still says spire credit union on it.
