- Open account by May 31st, 2020 and get $35 bonus
- Make 8 qualifying transactions for the following 5 months and you’ll receive a $35 monthly bonus at the end of each qualifying month – total of up to $210
The Fine Print
- Qualifying transactions include: check withdrawal and/or deposit, cash withdrawal and/or deposit, direct deposit (payroll, Social Security, etc.), debit card transactions, online transactions, mobile deposit, transfer to a loan or savings account (except Save The Change account transfers), ACH transactions, Bill Pay or Biller Direct, ATM Transactions, auto-transfers. Transactions that DO NOT qualify towards the 8 per month: Dividend deposit, fee withdrawal, Save The Change transfer.
- Limit one per social security number within the promotion time period.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
They offer a free checking account with no monthly fees.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so I’m unsure if there is an early account termination fee.
Our Verdict
Bit annoying you need to complete 8 transactions for 5 months, but there is no direct deposit requirement which is nice. This is worth doing and we will be adding this to our best bank account bonuses by clicking here.

Anyone that did this deal get the June bonus today? The courtesy first month bonus posted on the last day of May (my opening month) for me. I fooled around too long and tried to do a bunch of small things to reach 8 that posted just *yesterday*. I don't see the June $35 this morning. Wondering if I missed out. (I will not be calling to complain--none of my activities were in the spirt of the offer.)
Answering my own question. Looks like they post the monthly bonus at the end of the day. Got my June $35. I better not fool around for July.
Applied 5/29. Recieved call to review on 6/2. Understand delay in processing application. They are working remotely like most of us in Minnesota. After some double checking they verified I would still get bonus. Also they told me that CC would code as cash advance. Went ahead and tried my Citi American Airlines AAdvantage MileUp℠ Card anyways. Called Citi to close cash advance just in case, but they would only reduce to $750. Today it is sitting in the pending category Mortgage Companies-financial Institution, but 5K amount shows in pending purchases. Hopefully it sticks! Will update if it doesn't clear.
It should clear if its showing as pending, it would have been declined if it was cash advance because of the 750$ limit.
Sure did clear. It is official my first DP.
First tried to fund $5000 with US Bank Leverage Business card, but transaction was cancelled because it coded as cash advance and I have cash advance turned off. Then used Chase World of Hyatt card and it coded as a purchase.
Chase Ink Unlimited and Freedom Unlimited both coded as purchase for $5k ($4995 +$5).
They contacted me and P2 to ask employment info. Said account would open and be funded next day. Pending $4995 and $5 on CIU.
When did you apply?
5/23. Was contacted on 5/25.
I applied on the 28th and have not heard anything yet. How long till others have received an update?
Oops. Actually applied on the 27th
Thanks for all the DPs here. Any thoughts on ways this account could be used as a target for WU billpay, Moneygram or other services like that? If not, thinking this will be a short-lived account for the quick bonus.
DP, Banker called and said it is a soft pull. Must not be Chex sensitive because banker said I have great credit and my Chex report has an embarrassing number of pulls.
Based on past experience with other CUs, I expect they will start scrutinizing the applications when they start seeing a bunch of $5k CC initial funding. In one case they were holding funds and had to have a lengthy discussion with their security folks about my intentions with the accounts before they were released.
I can see this happening if you apply out of footprint but otherwise that should rarely be the case. A bank can't hold funds without cause and perceived promotional abuse isn't cause. Cause is fraud. So unless something doesn't match on your application, no reason to hold funds.
Were you straightforward?
DP: I have a family member who is a manager for this bank. Confirms this is a SOFT pull on CR.
