Our Verdict
You need to be a member to be able to apply and they do a hard pull when you join. That means if you’re not already a member two hard pulls will be done to get this card (no idea if they are combined or not). They have offered this 50,000 point bonus in the past, the standard offer is 10,000 points but with the lower spend requirement of $500.

Other than the artwork on the card, this doesn't seem that good of a deal.
hmmm nasa used to always be SP. even to get a CC...
That's interesting.
Will, our one data point on NASA FCU says - soft pull:
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/bank-accounts/is-opening-a-bank-account-a-soft-or-hard-pull/#NASA_Federal_Credit_Union
You pulling the HP idea from another source?
NASA FCU used to be soft pull for everything, they changed to hard pull. The DP you linked to is for opening a checking account (that's still a soft pull AFAIK). New membership and credit card are both hard pull, maybe combined if same day?
apologies, i guess it changed! i would avoid this bank like the plague! got approved 2 yrs ago huge limit low apr, and before card came got AA'd for too many new accounts! OK
Found this website. (Have the cash reward card and tried changing the name til I found this one)
https://startrekrewards.nasafcu.com//login.php
Has a view sample reward link.
$50 Cash = 7,100 points
$100 Cash = 14,200 points
Thanks, Trevor!
I couldn't find any reliable info. I contacted the website via the chat and they provided me with a phone # for rewards. The contact person had a different name than NASA FCU but they said a $100 GC (0.25c/p) would be 40,000 points. This seems to significantly contradict the 0.91c/p figure given in the past, which makes me think no one really knows what is going on within.
Hi Doc,
After calling the bank the rewards are worth 1 cent per point when redeeming for flights
I don't have this card but I'm tempted to apply. I also found this on their website -
https://www.nasafcu.com/img/advantage/newStarTrekRewards.html
"Your Star Trek™ Credit Card Program is getting even better! Your new program enhancements will include improved reward options, card-linked bonus points and popular name-brands to choose from. You’ll even have access to a new Star Trek Rewards Site and a new Credit Card Account Management Tool that you can use right within eBranch. Check out the details below: "
"BETTER REWARDS
In addition to travel with no black-out dates, you will have new rewards options, including more brand-name merchandise, gift cards, charitable donations – and cash back."
Looks like they changed their rewards program late last year. Travel, gift cards and cash back? I'd LOVE to see some of the redemption costs.
I applied for membership. Email response said it would be manually reviewed and I would be contacted in 3-5 business days. I'll post back after membership is approved and I apply for the card.
Yes, me too. Any knowledge anyone has here on how valuable those rewards actually are would be greatly appreciated!
Love these lesser known-about cards. Feels like snagging a secret.
I'm half tempted to get this card because the federation logo card looks cool but it is so useless I can't quite justify it.
It is also worth noting that this has no foreign transaction fees, though I still can't figure how anyone can get value out of it with a $39 annual fee.
NASA doesn't have a 2% card anymore, they switched the cash back card to a normal 1.5% cash back.
Howdy doc. They don't actually have a 2% card anymore. It is now a 1.5% on everything card without the yearly redemption restriction.
Fixed
Dammit...im a doctor of credit Jim...not a churner!
