Our Verdict

You need to be a member to be able to apply and they do a hard pull when you join. That means if you’re not already a member two hard pulls will be done to get this card (no idea if they are combined or not). They have offered this 50,000 point bonus in the past, the standard offer is 10,000 points but with the lower spend requirement of $500.

  • I couldn't find any reliable info. I contacted the website via the chat and they provided me with a phone # for rewards. The contact person had a different name than NASA FCU but they said a $100 GC (0.25c/p) would be 40,000 points. This seems to significantly contradict the 0.91c/p figure given in the past, which makes me think no one really knows what is going on within.

  • Hi Doc,

After calling the bank the rewards are worth 1 cent per point when redeeming for flights

  • I don't have this card but I'm tempted to apply. I also found this on their website -

    https://www.nasafcu.com/img/advantage/newStarTrekRewards.html

"Your Star Trek™ Credit Card Program is getting even better! Your new program enhancements will include improved reward options, card-linked bonus points and popular name-brands to choose from. You’ll even have access to a new Star Trek Rewards Site and a new Credit Card Account Management Tool that you can use right within eBranch. Check out the details below: "

    "BETTER REWARDS
In addition to travel with no black-out dates, you will have new rewards options, including more brand-name merchandise, gift cards, charitable donations – and cash back."

Looks like they changed their rewards program late last year. Travel, gift cards and cash back? I'd LOVE to see some of the redemption costs.

    • I applied for membership. Email response said it would be manually reviewed and I would be contacted in 3-5 business days. I'll post back after membership is approved and I apply for the card.

    • Yes, me too. Any knowledge anyone has here on how valuable those rewards actually are would be greatly appreciated!

Love these lesser known-about cards. Feels like snagging a secret.

  • I'm half tempted to get this card because the federation logo card looks cool but it is so useless I can't quite justify it.

    • It is also worth noting that this has no foreign transaction fees, though I still can't figure how anyone can get value out of it with a $39 annual fee.

  • NASA doesn't have a 2% card anymore, they switched the cash back card to a normal 1.5% cash back.

  • Howdy doc. They don't actually have a 2% card anymore. It is now a 1.5% on everything card without the yearly redemption restriction.
