Navy Federal Credit Union: Military Appreciation Month ($50 For Joining/Referring – Share Your Referrals)

Navy Federal Credit Union is offering some bonuses for military appreciation month, they are as follows:

  • $50 for referring Active Duty, DoD civilians and contractors, as well as their dependents (person you’re referring also receives $50)
  • $50 for becoming a member (just use a referral instead – that way somebody else gets $50 as well!)
  • $50 for opening an active duty checking account with qualifying Military Direct Deposit
  • $250 when you refinance an auto loan
  • $200 for opening a new cashRewards credit card and meeting the minimum spend requirements (read our full post on that here)

Keep in mind that joining NFCU is a hard pull, I’m not sure if they do another one when you open a checking account as well or not. They do have good credit card offers (like the cashRewards offer and also up to 40,000 points on Flagship card). So it probably makes sense to join now so you can pick up the $50 for joining and another $50 for the checking account. If you’re not a military member there is a work around, but you won’t get any bonuses from that.

Feel free to share your referral details in the comments below. You should just need to provide your member access number & last name. Then new applicants need to fill in that section when signing up.

  • i rtried this last time they ran the promo and I only received 1 of the 5 referral bonuses. .. oh wells

they keep no track of the stuff so just having to call in and give names and numbers and emails of everyone who you referred was a pain especially when you dont really know them.

  • I recently joined Navy Federal without a hard pull.

Opening deposit accounts should NOT incur a hard pull. Applying for credit, does.

There wasn't a hard pull for the pledge of shares loan, either (helping an adult child).

  • Data point: Opening account with Chase World of Hyatt Visa posted as charge (not cash advance).

  • I received an email this morning notifying of $25 referral bonus being offered up to $125 or 5 referrals.

I'll forward the full details to DoC, but basic details are:
    1/2/2018 - 2/28/2018
    Standard eligibility requirement
The Referrer & referee each receive $25 & fine print says posts within 14 days

Feel free to use the link that I've pasted below which appears to work (I deleted the portion that directly referenced my name and it still takes you to the page, but it might still be coded to my name).

    http://response.nfcu.org/bin/ftaf?id=E223434871ECA19D78CD34775AF9E2E00CD83620A56156C8

However, the email does not contain a code & since the link may be coded, it might be limited to my 5 invitations.

In case it works access # & Last name req'd are as follows (let me know if I need to enter name/email & I'll do so for the first 5:
    My access number: 10902025
    Last Name: Guillemette

    Thanks

    • Hi! I'm going to be joining soon and would love the $25 sign up bonus. However, it says offer expires 2/28/18. Can I still use your last name and access number?

      • The link still appears to be working and emails being sent out; however, as you mentioned it does clearly state the expiration date has passed, so its probably unlikely that they're still handing out referral bonus.

        • just signed up via phone (bro isnt a member, but is my sponsor). every few months they have promos, but it looks like this one's expired. i'm still going to ask when i finalize my app and hopefully you and i can both get the bonus! thanks for sharing

    • Here's my referral information, thanks in advance for using it.

Last name Rubin, Access # 11241019

  • DRH,
I applied with your access code, and just saw that your referrals are maxed out but you were the one that explained everything so well. Anyway I hope that's ok. Thank you!

  • Opened Navy Federal Credit Union membership and you are required to open the Savings account as well. Can fund up to $250 via credit card (visa mastercard or discover). Funded with fidelity visa. Posted as purchase

  • Maybe dumb question, but can you get the active duty checking if you arent active duty? Is that just the name of the checking account?
