Our Verdict

Previously the highest bonus has been 50,000 points. This is 10,000 points less, but does come with the Amazon Prime membership. We haven’t seen the 50,000 bonus in some time. Points are worth 1¢ each.

Navy Federal is only available for military and veterans – full eligibility information can be found here (plus family members. Even if they are deceased). Keep in mind that joining NFCU is a hard pull, it’s possible you’ll land up with two hard pulls if you join and signup for the card, but hopefully those will be combined. Learn more about Navy Federal credit cards in the post Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) Credit Cards: List, Best Cards & Things You Must Know.

  • Looks like the terms now say that you "Receive statement credits (up to $120) for Global Entry or TSA Pre✓" every 4 years per Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® program.

  • Paying estimated taxes on ACI payment worked for meeting sign up bonus.
Received email: Congratulations! You've earned 40,000 Points for your card ending in XXXX

  • I wonder what would happen if you cancel the Prime subscription after getting the credit? 🤔

  • Decided to sign up for the annual Prime today with the Flagship card, with it being Prime Day and all. Card terms don't say you have to have earned the SUB to earn the year of Prime, so I assume not.

Seeing that this was my first time EVER to get a year of Prime, I totally spaced out that I should have went through a portal. (In fact, all I have ever done Prime is for free trials or 1 week $1.99 promos) I just now remembered TCB has a $15 rebate on Prime. I am not going to search around with other portals and piss myself off more.

Might want to remind people (noobs) like me to use a portal when purchasing the Annual Prime subscription. @2

I am curious to see if the $139 Prime fee will be counted toward my NFCU MSR. I would assume so, but a risk if they decide to do a clawback later on the bonus once NFCU refunds the Prime fee. I doubt it, but... you don't know what you don't know.

Per the bonus tracker, I am at "$176.29 TO GO" with 25 days remaining for my SUB. I will probably just do the remaining spend beyond the $139 Prime, even if it does count.

      • Use a cashback portal when paying for the prime membership. At the time I wrote that comment, Befrugal was paying $15 cashback for a annual Prime subscription. @guest_1966932

Was your Chex frozen when you applied or did you notice a hard pull on Chex? I was pre-approved, but then still denied. Maybe I should have frozen Chex. Not sure why they are pulling Chex for existing members when applying for a credit card.

      • I have never seen a CC application cause a Chex inquiry at any bank. That would be a first.

So, no, I don't believe Chex was frozen at the time.

Not even sure NFCU pulls Chex for deposit accounts. I believe they are EWS only, but don't quote me on that one. Had my accounts forever. @guest_1844363

    • Prime membership purchase did go toward MSR tracker. "$37.29 TO GO". The big question is what happens when it's reimbursed? Takes 4-8 weeks.

      • Bonus posted within days of hitting $3.5K Spend. Bonus posted 7/23.

        Also, for Prime reimbursement...

        7/17 Purchased $139 Annual Prime
7/24 $139 reimbursed. "NFCU AMAZON PRIME CREDIT Vienna 22"

I am probably going to keep spending, just in case later they decided to review activity and they use the $139 refund against me to do a claw back.

  • Similar results on (not) matching higher signup bonuses as the older data point referenced in the Navy Federal CC "things you must know" post. I signed up under the 35k offer; the 40k offer came out while I was mid-spend, and no dice on matching.

  • INSTANTLY for 25K. My Barclay's app went down the toilet so I pulled the trigger on this one. I will be lowering that limit after I meet the spend. The $49 prime is a good feature. If we can get that every year, I will keep this card.

    • Met minimum spend and the 40K which actually came out to be about 47K (including points for spend) posted on the first billing cycle. First billing cycle hits quick, so if you want to get the points fast, then do a fast spend. They offer you an option to apply the points to your statement balance.

      • This card is underrated, IMO. That is not a bad haul for $3500 spend, and I still have the Prime credit that I will apply sooner or later.

  • are they chex-sensitive at all? don't want to waste a hp if i'm not likely to get approved for membership
