  • Out-of-state eligibility?

By joining the Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA)This non-profit membership organization consists of individuals, businesses, governments, and non-profits interested in North Carolina's sustainable energy future. By choosing to join NCSEA, you qualify for Coastal Credit Union membership. The $18 NCSEA membership fee will be deducted from your initial deposit to your Coastal Primary Savings account.

  • 7/27 - Opened
    8/10 - $1000+ transfer from Wise "Payroll"
8/24 - $1000+ transfer from Fidelity (just in case)
9/1 - $300 "Opening Bonus" posted in Savings account

  • Both P2 and myself signed up and were approved. I'll be using a real DD to (hopefully) trigger the bonus. For P2, I plan to use some combination of Alliant, SoFi, Discover, and possibly Fidelity to simulate a DD. Of note, the bonus posts 30 days after the terms are met (meaning the DD) and we have 60 days to complete the DD. As such, I should know within the initial 60-day window if these worked. The "List of Banks that Code as a DD" part of this site has no datapoints for Coastal Credit Union. As such, I'll be sure to report back, although it is quite possible that I'll be unsure exactly which of these banks triggered the bonus (assuming the bonus is indeed triggered).

  • Can join NC Consumers Council for $20, which apparently qualifies you for membership. Any of you OOS animals going to try this one?

    • I'm in state, but not in one of the locations listed in the eligibility section. I used this NC Consumers Council method to join and was able to successfully open an account. Will then refer P2 using P1's membership as the eligibility

      • @guest_1661486 Thanks! Did they pull your Chex report? If so, what were your Chex stats for the last 1, 3, 6, and 12 months?

  • Long time member here. Gonna close account and reopen I guess. Nothing in eligibility says existing checking members in __ months can't get bonus.

  • Where did you see the availability details? I dont see it on the site about the cities that are included.

  • Coastal has branches all over the Triangle, but doesn't give community membership to those cities?

    • I also live in Cary about 5 minute drive away from a branch. I’m holding off on this one for a few days. I’ll try to visit a branch and see if they’ll do this.
