What You Should Know

  • If you aren’t targeted, call American Express to see if they can add the offer to your account. This is usually possible. At the moment the direct links don’t seem to be working either, so calling in regardless of whether you received an e-mail or not seems like it’s required.
  • SSN is not required when you add an authorized user, but you need to provide one within 60 days of account opening (people have been denied the bonus in the past for not providing this in time)
  • American Express authorized user accounts do count towards your Chase 5/24 status/total.

F.A.Q

Does being added as an authorized user prevent you from getting the sign up bonus?

No, you can be added as an authorized and then sign up for the card as the primary cardholder and still receive the sign up bonus.

Who needs to spend the money to trigger the bonus?

Authorized user needs to complete the spend requirement. Keep in mind authorized users have their own unique card number so this is easy to track. It’s highly unlikely that spend completed by the primary cardholder will trigger the bonus.

Our Verdict

Please share any other offers you received in the comments, along with any direct login links if you have them available. Previously people were having issues with these bonuses posting, but over the last week it seems like more and more of them are posting. Hopefully the people still waiting will be put out of their misery soon.

  • Just noticed an offer on the Hilton Ascend. $250 spend for 5k bonus x 4. Email came in on 7/24.

  • An AmEx rep just told me that employees added to business cards must be at least 18. He explained that authorized users for personal cards was different, and allowed kids 13+. I was trying to add my 16-year-old son as an employee on my AmEx Business Platinum, and had already received the card, but couldn't get past the card confirmation screen that asks for SSN and DOB.

I couldn't find anything about minimum ages for employee cards on the AmEx website to confirm what the agent said. But assuming that policy is true, the 18+ rule for employee cards might be a good fact to add to future "need to knows".

  • Called in three times to Amex. Only on the third call did they say that they couldn't add the AU promotion to my account. However, they added 3K MR to my account instead.

  • I tried calling in to see if this was available on my Amex Gold Rewards card but it didn't work.

  • I tried chatting with Amex today to add this to my business platinum and business gold card and was told there are no current offers and nothing they see. Womp Womp!

  • Not sure about those fuss fuss fuss above. But most of my bonuses have been posted on time. As in within 3 - 4 days. One exception was my referral last May. Amex didn’t post it till late July. Amex sent me an email and a letter in August regarding bonus not posting in a timely fashion. They credited an extra 15K due to an inconvenience. But then again I hold 6 Amex-issued cc (not counting third party Amex). But again my most recent Amex cc app went to pending and got approved after it went to their office in SLC. The rep specifically mentioned “you don’t have history of opening and closing accounts for bonuses”. So I wonder if those fuss fuss fuss were engaging in MS, gamming, etc.

  • Are there any POID numbers showing on PRG offer letter. I called to match the adding additional users offer, but the rep continuously asked me the POID number.

  • I read somewhere that AU card will not be counted against Chase 5/24 if the AU was added to a business account. True?

    • Amex business cards in general don't count. Doesn't matter if it's an AU or primary card.

  • I tried chatting with Amex today to add this to my gold card and was told it is no longer available and was limited time and that time is over and there are no current offers
