Avoiding Fees

This account has a $4 fee that you cannot avoid, you’ll be charged an additional $5 per month if you choose to receive a paper statement as well. You must keep the account open for a minimum of 90 days otherwise you will forfeit the bonus.

Our Verdict

Great deal, you’ll need to keep the account open for six months so you’ll end up paying $24 in monthly fees but this account has no bonus requirements at all. Their sister bank (KS, MO, NE, IA, WY, CO) has a similar bonus for $100 and it’s possible to do both if you’re in an overlapping state.

This is the best bonus they have offered (previous bonuses can be seen here). This will obviously be added to our list of the best bank account bonuses available.

Big thanks to reader, Sean who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

  • This offer is still open until Dec. 31, 2017, at https://www.bankofcolorado.com/rockies

    My DPs:

08/15 - Opened checking with $100 and and savings with $200
3 pushes of $250+ from Chase and 1 push from Cap1 (these coded as external transfer, but they worked toward the DD requirement)
11/14 - 3 bonuses posted: $50 for debit card, $50 for savings, $100 for DD

    • Final bonus of $50 posted today (11/20) for keeping account open for 90 days. Total of $250 received, minus three months of $4 fee (unavoidable).

  • DP:

My $200 bonus just posted today.

I opened the account on 03/14/17, and my 3rd month statement was 6/16/17.

Anybody have DP on closing the account after the 90 days?

    • Closed mine and my wife's account right after 90 days and before the new statement posted with another $4 monthly fee. Did chat for both, but for me they called me to close out. For my wife they just closed on the spot over chat. We drained both accounts to $0 beforehand.

  • I wonder if the account can be downgraded after six months to their Free Checking account, and thus avoid the $4 fee to eternity? (for someone who actually wants to maintain a checking account at Bank of Colorado, but is fee-intolerant)

    • When I called about avoiding fees, I was told that this was an option as the $4/month is mostly relating to the ID protection that comes with the Diamond Secure account.

  • The link to the actual offer here are kind of wonky. I ended up at a broken Bank of Colorado site, but clicked on through. The offer showed up on their home page. No blank to enter a promo code. But... you don't have to open an account to enter the Rockies Sweepstakes. Enter at the link given above ( https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RPFSQBY )

Opened an account for myself & the Man. I'll eat the $4/month fee for a net $176 per account.

    • Somebody said in the other post in the account disclosures there is another ETF if closed within six months.
