Monthly Fees

Simply free checking has no monthly fees to worry about.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any EATF.

Our Verdict

If anybody signs up for the account please share your experiences below. Hopefully it’s a soft pull to open.

  • 11/17/2024 - P2 applied OOS with Chex frozen
    3/13/2025 - P2 received denial email

    4 months to process a denial? ¯ \_(ツ)_/¯

    • Maybe she should now apply with her Chex unfrozen to see if their response time will be any quicker!

  • Called to clarify how one qualifies for the $2,500 avg daily balance. Bank rep said the $2,500 avg daily balance starts after the $2,500 is deposited into the account. After 90 days, the $250 bonus will be deposited within 2-3 bus days. I asked that she send a email confirming this info.

  • Applied from Houston and was rejected. No reasons given. Had to attach driver's license, etc. Probably sensitive to Chex, etc.

  • P1, P2, and Brother applied in OK branch in town. Got the review message on all three. P1 and P2 approved first thing Monday. Brother approved later same day.

  • Applied, went to review, denied a couple hours later with no reason given.

    In footprint, DFW metro.

  • Thank you for applying!

We’re reviewing your account application, which should take 2-3 business days. We’ll email you when our review is complete. Thank you for choosing Great Plains Bank.

    applied from El Paso.

  • I'm 17 miles from the nearest branch. I applied with Chex frozen and credit reports unfrozen and uploaded my DL as part of completing the application. I later received the "unable to open your account" email. I called to discuss, and my application was auto-rejected by the system because it could not confirm my identity. The rep offered two ideas: go in-branch to open the account the same day or wait a week or so and reapply.

  • In Houston area, chex not frozen, was not approved... no details given. Probably chex related, I am lol/12 but have not opened any accounts in the last month.
