  • Receive a sign up bonus of $200 when you open a new Penn Community Bank Premier checking account, bonus is broken down as follows:
    • $50 for opening a new account with a $300 minimum opening deposit
    • $75 after your first direct deposit
    • $75 after your first online bill payment made in the first 90 days after account opening

The Fine Print

  • Payment of Direct Deposit and Bill Payment bonus will occur by the 7th day of the month(s) following account opening
  • If multiple accounts are opened by the same signer, only one account will be eligible for the bonus
  • Offer expires April 30, 2016
  • Account must remain open and active for six (6) months from date of open or a $50 early termination fee will be assessed
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

$50 Early Account Termination Fee

There is an early account termination fee of $50 if the account is closed within 6 months of account opening.

Premier Checking $10 Monthly Fee

You need to have a minimum balance of $300, receive a direct deposit and have eStatements to avoid the monthly fee. If you have both the others but no direct deposit you’ll be charged $5 monthly instead.

Our Verdict

Not a bad bonus, although we don’t know whether it’s a soft or hard pull. I doubt you’ll be able to fund with a credit card as it requires opening the account in a branch. How hard it is tot rigger the direct deposit requirement is really going to decide how good this bonus really is.
