The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • First National Bank is offering a bonus of $150 when you open a new checking account (Freestyle, Mystyle, Lifestyle or Premierstyle) & complete the following requirements:
    • Use promo code DIGITAL17
    • Make qualifying direct deposits of $1,500 or more within the first 90 days

The Fine Print

  • Present the $150 promotional offer when opening a new FNB personal checking account (Freestyle, Mystyle, Lifestyle or Premierstyle).
  • A $50 minimum deposit is required when opening an account online.
  • To receive the $150 reward, the following conditions must be satisfied: 1) Set-up and have a qualifying direct deposit(s) totaling $1,500 or greater made to your new personal checking account within the first 90 days after account opening; and 2) your account must be in good standing once the above conditions are satisfied.
  • Once these conditions are satisfied, then your $150 reward will be credited to this open account on the next business day following the 90 days after account opening.
  • Your qualifying direct deposit(s) needs to be an electronic-type deposit, similar but not limited to, paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or other affiliated depositors.
  • Offer valid for new personal checking accounts opened May 1 through December 31, 2017. Offer subject to change without prior notice and may be terminated or extended based on response. Offer does not apply to multiple checking accounts.
  • Existing FNB checking accounts or accounts converting to another personal checking account are NOT eligible for this offer.
  • You can receive only one new checking account reward related offer per household per calendar year; bank employees and members of their household are not eligible for this promotion.
  • FNB may offer multiple promotions to its customers at one time.
  • Even if you met the requirements for multiple promotional offers you are only eligible for and will receive one promotional reward offer.
  • Checking accounts closed by customer within 180 days of opening are subject to a $50 account early closing fee.
  • To the extent required by law, First National Bank will report the value of this reward to the IRS on Form 1099 MISC. Any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the account holder.
  • In the event that we determine in our sole discretion that your account does not meet the eligibility criteria or the activity on your account does not qualify to required conditions, we will not be obligated to credit your account with the reward payout.

Avoiding Fees

The easiest account to keep fee free is Freestyle checking, there is no monthly fee as long as you have eStatements enabled. There is an early account termination fee of $50 if the account is closed within 180 days.

Our Verdict

A lot of people hate First National Bank because they had a previous offer that was available nationwide and then after an influx of new accounts they shut people down if they weren’t in their ‘footprint’. Shouldn’t have an issue if you live in one of the qualifying states, but something to keep in mind. I do think this bonus is worth doing if you live in the area so I will be adding to the best checking sign up bonuses.

  • Received a mail offer (not targeted, the recipient is "Our Neighbor" instead of any specific name) to get up to $400. Promo Code: DM4000519. See eligibility details and expiration date in the attached pic via https://imgur.com/gallery/2MllQKv @will

    • It's been a few days past 90 days since my account opening using this promo code, and I've completed all the requirements. So far no bonus. Anyone in the same boat?

      • The offer terms say 5 business days following the 90 days after account opening. How did you make the direct deposit? I opened the account on June 13, so I am still waiting for the 90-day window passing by.

        • Booyah! Got the 250+150 bonus last night. I guess since I opened my account online on a Friday, the first weekend days don't count, so 90+ days. Thanks for posting that promo code.

Chase/WF/Cap1 DD. And MO deposit possible via their mobile app.

  • 06/23/2017 FNB NEW_ACCT
    06/30/2017 CAPITAL ONE N.A. CAPITALONE ($1600)
    08/29/2017 SCHWAB BANK TRANSFER ($1650)
    09/19/2017 DIGITAL2017 PROMOTIONAL REWARD ($150)

Not sure which DD triggered it. Thought I'd share.

  • FYI-- FNB closed my account because I had a $0 balance for 30 days. I completed the direct deposit requirements, and have never heard of a bank closing an account after 30 days of no activity. So I guess beware for future people who enroll. Leave a little balance in the account.

  • First DP for FNB. Opened 6/22. Funded with ACH push from regular Chase checking on 9/14. Bonus posted 9/22, exactly 90 days from account opening.

I wasn't planning on getting this bonus at all considering there were no data points. Just a shot in the dark but a nice little unexpected bonus.

  • when clicking on the direct link to the offer, their website says that an error has occurred

  • Looks like they are very Chexsystem sensitive.
I applied online and was declined due to Chex report.

I had opened 12 accounts since Jan.

    • I have opened 14 since January and they opened my account without any issues. YMMV, I guess.

  • Really annoyed tonight. Stopped by the FNB branch to make an ATM withdrawal from my FNB account using their own ATM - and they charged me a $3 fee! I will be calling them tomorrow and finding out what that's all about. Ridiculous that they charge you to use their own ATMs, They also charge to transfer funds to another bank via ACH. Terrible, terrible bank.

    • Do a pull from a different bank that doesn't charge, like Ally.

And did they reimburse the ATM fee?

  • I just googled first national bank 250 bonus. Found code AM2500717 for $250 bonus. Only difference is it requires $2500 DD. Opened it online just now. Funded with $50 on Citi DC.

  • I'd say they aren't chex sensitive. Lots of recent accounts, still got instantly approved for the free style checking. Now, just have to tinker with what works for DD.
