Back in October an issue cropped up with Plastiq not accepting Capital One business cards. That issue has apparently been resolved, per an email blast they sent out today.
Capital One business cards will work again. Capital One personal cards will still not work, as before.
Additionally, the following payments will not work with any Capital One card:
- Mortgage
- Home Equity Line of Credit
- Auto Loans
- Student Loans
But for other payments like rent, vendor payments, etc, you can use Capital One business cards. Useful for meeting the $50k spend threshold on the Spark cards for their large $2k signup bonus.
See our review of Plastiq here. New Plastiq signups can use a referral link (here’s our referral link) to signup and get $500 in free processing after doing $500 in paid processing.

I just tried to pay rent and received a notification that plastiq is having difficulty with capital one cards, I should use one from a different issuer. So, not sure if this is resolved or not.
Hi Chuck, is there still a Plastiq business referral program going on or is that expired?
I don't think there's any business signup specials (or any kind of special) going on right now.
