Plastiq (Pay Rent, Bills, Tuition & More With Credit Card) Lowers Fees To 1.99% For American Express & MasterCard

What Is Plastiq

Plastiq is a site that allows you to pay for things such as rent, tuition, mortgage with credit cards. Unlike some other websites, if the biller is not found in their directory you can still pay them using Plastiq and they will send them a paper check instead.

Plastiq Fees

They normally charge a flat fee of 2.5% for all credit cards, but they are currently running a special promotion where you only get charged 1.99% for American Express & Mastercard payments.

Getting The 1.99% Rate

There are two ways to get this special rate:

  • If you don’t already have an account, use a special promotional link (we do not have one of these links, thanks Plastiq). I would recommend using Frequent Miler’s link here as he provides a lot of useful information (he’ll also receive $5)
  • If you already have an account just sign up with a new account with a different e-mail address (this is apparently ok with Plastiq)

  • Is this promo dead? I just signed up with the promo link and tried out an AX payment to myself to see the fee and it was 2.5% not the 1.99%.

    • From FrequentMiler:
"Once you have signed up for the service using the above link, you can browse directly to Plastiq.com to pay bills and you will receive these special rates for as long as the promotion is active.
The end date for this promotion has not yet been set. One way to lock in lower rates is to setup recurring payments. You can always change the payment source later, if needed."

      • So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but if I set up a mortgage payment by check to Wells Fargo for $1,900 and set it as a reoccurring payment I can go in and switch the funding source every month and still retain the 1.99% rate for using an Amex gift card?

  • Saw the title and got excited that Visa cards had been added to the discounted rate, but you must have meant Amex and MasterCard.
