Plenti Launches Partner Rewards on Dining – 3x per Dollar

We can now earn Plenti points for in-store dining purchases by linking a credit or debit card to Plenti. (Link)

Plenti points are typically earned by shopping at partner retailers such as Exxon, AT&T, Macy’s, Rite Aid, Expedia, Enterprise, and Hulu – in-store or online. You can also earn Plenti points by using their online shopping portal when shopping at places like eBay, Staples, Kohl’s and more.

They’ve now added a third way to earn points by linking a credit or debit card and using the card at participating dining partners. Use the linked card at over 11,000 restaurants and bars nationwide, and get 3 Plenti points per dollar spent.

No need to show your Plenti card at the restaurant, they track the card number and will know to give you credit for your purchases.

Similar Programs

There are a bunch of similar loyalty programs who allow us to link a credit card and get bonus rewards when using the card at particular merchants. Some of these include Upromise, United Mileage Plus Dining, and AAdvantage Dining.

Readers pointed out that each credit card can only be linked to ONE of these programs since they all run through the same provider. As such, you’re better off getting the 5% back from Upromise or 3-5x United/AAdvantage miles, versus the 3x back from Plenti.

There’s also Shopyourway which offers the card-link option, and they have a wide variety of partners and aren’t limited to dining in particular.

Points Earning

For each dollar spent at a partner restaurant, you’ll earn 3 points, worth 3 cents to redeem at partners Exxon, AT&T, Rite Aid, and Macy’s.

200 Bonus Points

As part of the launch, Plenti is offering 200 bonus points if you use the linked card at a participating restaurant by July 31, 2016.

Miscellaneous Notes

  • The Plenti dining program is powered by Rewards Network, a leader in loyalty dining programs
  • You won’t earn Plenti points when paying with an electronic wallet like Apple Pay or Android Pay or Samsung Pay
  • You won’t earn Plenti points when using a PIN with a debit card payment
  • Points will appear in your Plenti account within 45 days
  • There may be blackout dates on point-earning, and that will be stated here

Final Thoughts

This addition would be nice if not for the competition. Being that you can get 5% cashback with Upromise or 3-5x points with United or AAdvantage, most people probably aren’t interested in the 3x Plenti points.

  • Along the same lines as above comment, this is “Powered by Rewards Network” – Same one used by airlines (ex. United Mileage Dining). So if you’re doing that you can’t do this - no double-dip.

  • Any reason why one credit card enrolled in this restaurant program as well as the Upromise one wouldn't earn with both simultaneously at a restaurant that participates in both programs?

    • Both powered by Rewards Network. Won't earn from both, only one. Upromise is better since it's 5% cashback not 3% points.
