PSA: New Email Scam Includes Name & Home Photo

There’s a new scam email going around whereby the scammer includes your name, phone number, and a photo of your house. The email claims that they took over your computer video and they have embarrassing videos of you which they’ll only delete if you send them $1,950 in Bitcoin.

I thought this was worth sharing after having heard others talk about it and now having just gotten the scam email myself. I’ve included a partial image of the email below. It’s worth sharing this with others who you think might be more vulnerable to such as scam.

The inclusion of the home photo makes it seem more real, but of course those can be lifted straight from Google Maps. And the names/phone are public record. In my case, they used a photo from an old address which isn’t even associated with me anymore.

  • Got this for the first time today. No photo though. Don't even have a camera on my computer (made it through the pandemic with zero Zoom calls!).

  • i've gotten this twice from 2 different email addresses. the best part is the photo of my house is my neighbor's across the street. they had my exact address but yet still couldn't get the right house photo lol

  • They would probably be more successful if they weren’t as mean. Your “pathetic existence”, dang d00d.

  • Jokes on you, my husband already knows about my porn viewing habits (and I know his), and he also knows about the steamy hot threesome I was in earlier this morning at the local bathhouse while he was sleeping at home with the hot af azn twink and another dude with a huge dick (besides me of course!).

What could you discover that I would actually be embarrassed about? IDK!

  • I have gotten this email twice in the last week - from different email addresses. Both had a picture of the delivery dock of my condo building.

  • I use a different email for everything. Mine was sent to an email I used for something called Price Whack. I barely remember Price Whack and I don’t remember why I even used their site.

  • The data for name/email/phone/address is most likely from Eye4Fraud data leak. Check haveibeenpwned with the email.

  • I prefer option 3: "I call your bluff because you actually have no video, and I tell you to go fuck yourself"

    • I knew this would happen 10 years ago; you could easily get other customer's info just by modifying your order link, IIRC

      • Did not realize BuyDig recorded me enjoying filthy Internet garbage. /s

Will we get a couple Satoshis from a class action settlement?
