Our Verdict
With these e-mail coupon bonuses, there is only a certain amount of them before they run out – if you’re thinking of doing this deal I’d recommend acting quickly to get the coupon. You’ll then have until November 15 to get to a Chase branch and open the account.
Here’s how I’d go about getting this $500 bonus:
- Bring the coupon to a local Chase branch and open a Savings and Checking account.
- Deposit $25 into the checking and $15,000 into the Savings.
- Get a direct deposit to the Chase checking account. See what has counted for direct deposit in the past here.
- Wait until the Tuesday after completing the requirements for the bonus to post. (Chase is weird and always posts the bonuses on a Tuesday). If you don’t receive the bonus, use another direct deposit to try and trigger it.
- Wait 90 days from the date of deposit and transfer over money from savings to checking to bring the balance to $1,500. Then transfer out the remainder of the $15,000 to your regular high-interest savings account, but leave $300 in the Chase savings account. With $1,500 in checking and $300 in savings the account will remain fee-free.
- Wait until 6 months after the opening date.
- Withdraw all funds & close the accounts.
You can also choose to just do the checking or just the savings if you prefer for any reason.
Chase bank bonuses are from the best bank bonus around. There is no minimum on the direct deposit requirement, it’s easy to keep the account fee free, and the bonuses are a nice chunk of change. If you’ve never completed a bank bonus before, this is a good one to start with. We’ll be adding this bonus into our list of Best Bank Bonuses.
It’s interesting to note is that the above link is capable of generating multiple unique coupon codes to the same Chase account. So if you want to save a second code for a friend, just click the link a second time to get a second unique code.
Remember to always check your Chase preapproved credit card offers when visiting a Chase branch; you might even get lucky and end up with a Sapphire Reserve preapproval.

DP for Chase $300 checking bonus.
1) Day 1 - opened Chase checking account with $300 bonus offer.
2) Day 20 - Wells Fargo Deposit - WELLS FARGO IFI DDA TO DDA PPD ID: INTFITRVOS ~ $123
No bonus.
3) Opened Fidelity Account just for this.
4) ACH in to Fidelity via another bank and tried ACH out to Chase.
Fraud alert and account blocked by Fidelity without transfer to Chase.
Lot of ID and other documentation and phone calls later, account restored.
5) Day 65 - Fidelity push posted to Chase - FID BKG SVC LLC MONEYLINE PPD ID: 0368504603 ~ $124
I thought bonus is gone as it is not within 60 days of account opening.
6) Day 69: $300 bonus posted!
Let me know if any questions on this DP.
As I mentioned in above posts, I was struggling to make a transaction which can trigger the bonus, not sure what happened she just received $300 bonus, but following info could be a new DP for Chase DD which triggers the bonus.
Mar 6, 2017 - Account opened
Mar 13, 2017 - IRS TREAS 310 TAX REF PPD ID: xxxxxxxxxx ACH credit > $500
Mar 21, 2017 - DIGITAL FEDERAL PEOPLE PAY Ven XXXXXLA WEB ID: Z39113450 ACH credit, just $5
Mar 22, 2017 - Chase QuickPay Electronic Transfer 698675629 from VEN XXXXXLA QuickPay credit, $501
Mar 28, 2017 - $300 for New Checking, got the bonus
As per existing DPs, IRS won't be considered as DD. So not sure which transaction triggered the bonus :)
How would I do WF ACH to my spouse's chase account to trigger DD Bonus? I guess WF is allowing ACH to only to our own account in other banks. any thoughts!!!
Note: My WF to my Chase ACH worked to trigger the DD.
When you add external account to WF, it generates trial deposit, correct? Does that trigger bonus or do you actually have to transfer the money?
The trial deposits did not trigger the bonus for me.
And unfortunately, I closed the WF account before I realized that the IRS DD was no longer working either. :-(
After calling Wells Fargo, it sounds like the check box saying "I am the owner of this non-Wells Fargo account." is only due to the fact that Wells Fargo will make a few small deposits to verify the account, so if you can log in and see how much the deposits are, your set.
I tried, but trail deposit verification is failed from WF to Chase, saying not able to find the account.
I have already received chase bonus. If i join as co-joine to my spouse Chase account would that work? or chase will reject the bonus saying I have already received a bonus (my own account) in same year?
I asked Chase about joint accounts and Chase will Reject one of the bonus's if it is joint, do NOT do a joint account. Maybe you could double check you account numbers, or do the Direct deposit another way like with Fidelity... I was able to do both his and her's vitrification deposits from one Wels Fargo account.
Thank you very much for the info, I will not go in joint account route. Will try again to add my spouse account in my WF. If it won't work, as a backup I am planning to open Barclays Savings account for her.
I guess Wells Fargo ACH worked because right after Chase called on 2/27 that the Barclays Bank would not be counted DD, I made WFG DD and was pushed into Chase on 3/2, I got the $300 bonus on 3/8. Done. One explanation is WFG worked!
Wells Fargo ACH worked! Got $300 for Chase new total checking. Moving coupon 300+200.
Steps:
1. Log onto Wells Fargo online account and find the "transfer" tab. Not the "send" tab, which you use an email/phone to send and receive money, not this one.
2. Find "add a non-wells fargo account", and enter your chase account and routing numbers.
3. Wait for Wells Fargo to do trial deposits, usually in one biz day.
4. Log onto Chase and find out the amount of trial deposites. Then go back to Wells Fargo "transfer" and "add non..." and you will see your Chase account pending verification.
5. Enter the trial deposites amount. Then it is verified.
6. Transfer some money (I pushed $500) from Wells Fargo to Chase.
7. Chase posts the transaction as "Wells Fargo DDA to DDA PPD".
8. Wait a few days and you will see the $300. I got it a week plus one day later.
Thanks for the DP! I am sure a lot of us happen to have a WF account due to recent events. Sure beats the real DD route. Linking now. Thanks again!
I got a call from Chase bank today saying the bank to bank transfer from my Barclays Savings account made on 2/24/17 won't be counted as direct deposit. Anyone else got the similar experience?
Did you actually ASK them if it would count? They are not going to help you circumvent the rules.
Did you push it to Chase from Barclays or pull it i to your Chase account?
If the transfer is initiated by Chase then of course it wouldn't be viewed as a dd.
No, Patti, actually I did not say anything about what it counts as DD because I know it and don't think they would give me any useful information about it. I pushed the deposit into Chase from Barclays on 2/24.
I read on the Chase website that it takes 10 business days after it has been posted for the bonus to be credited. Meaning if you pushed Barclays ACH and it posted on Chase on 2/24/17 then you should see the bonus on your account by 3/9/17 or 3/10/17. I'm also surprised that they called you to tell you that Barclays won't count as DD. To my knowledge they don't usually call people to notify them account activity. Anyways, If my Wells Fargo ACH doesn't come through this week. I'll do a Barclays ACH and post my results here.
Wells Fargo ACH worked.
By chance did the Wells Fargo ACH work?
Just out of curiosity. Why would you ask them if a Bank to Bank transfer counts as direct deposit? I'm pretty sure they will give you the list of what they consider direct deposit. Such as Govt. work etc.. 9/10 every bank will tell you this even if a method counts as DD
Thank you for your reply. I didn't ask the bank if a Bank to Bank transfer counted as direct deposit. It was the Chase Bank that called me right after they received my Direct Deposit (showing online as pending) on 2/27, after I push it into Chase from Barclays on 2/24. And the following Tuesday (2/28), I did not received the expected bonus.
Confirming Barclay ACH to Chase still counts as DD (2/07/17).
Confirming Barclay ACH to Chase still counts as DD (1/24/17). Bonus posted as usual on a Tuesday.
You use the normal transfer? I tried but it shows on my chase account: TAC ORIG CO NAME:BARCLAYS BANK DE CO ENTRY DESCR:DEPOSIT SEC:PPD ORIG ID:96..., not sure if it's ok or not?
Thanks
Using barclays savings account transfered to new chase checking triggered direct deposit. Took 5 business days but it's showing bonus now.
I made a deposit/opened an account June 7th of this year. If i close it on the 9th of Dec, is that considered "within 6 months"?
