This is the first post in our app-o-rama series where I’ll apply for a bunch of credit cards with large sign up bonuses.
You should answer these questions before you apply for a credit card or partake in an app-o-rama. I’ve listed the questions with my answers below.
1. How much do you spend monthly on credit cards?
My household spends approximately $2,700 per month on credit cards.
2. Could this be increased if you looked at manufacturing credit card spend?
Yes, I could use amazon payments to pay various workers for small jobs. I could easily hit the $1,000 month limit.
Unfortunately Vanilla Reload cards are almost always sold out in my area and I haven’t been able to find a way to load our bluebird account with a giftcard as nobody selling the prepaid gift cards will accept credit.
I’m not willing to put in the time to purchase and then fill out rebate forms to increase my spend.
The rest I already do.
3. What categories is your monthly spend in?
Bills: $500 per month
Groceries: $700 per month
Restaurants: $400 per month
Entertainment: $300 per month
Gas: $300 per month
Online shopping: $500 per month
Amazon payments: $1000 per month
4. What Type Of Rewards Are You Looking For (e.g cash, travel, gifts, etc).
I’m definitely interested in cash the most. Most travel I do is covered by work (e.g I fly out for a conference or on site training and then stay extra time either before or after).
5. What Are Your FICO Scores?
EX-04:821, TU-98: 809, EQ-08:823, I purchased all of these from myFICO.com using one of the promo codes found on our site.
As you can see, it’s only five questions but I know now that I have a maximum monthly credit spend of $3,700 (unless I prepaid bills, in which case I can temporarily bump it up) and I also know I’m most interested in cards which offer a cash bonus or can be redeemed for cash and I have FICO scores all above 800 (which puts me in the excellent category meaning I can apply for and be approved for almost any credit card).
Did I miss any questions you think are important? If so, let me know in the comments.
