Our Verdict

Standard is .5% back, now it’s up to 3% back. It’s not much, but Walmart gift cards are hard to come by with a discount so this is something. My guess is that shopping portals don’t work for Raise Pay first-hand gift card purchases.

  • I got an alert early this morning and they had $250 denominations at first. I was able to get 2 $250 ones. The 3% still showed as available but the transaction was canceled when trying to buy more.

    • I would highly recommend this to buy GCs. I had a bunch come back unactivated and if I had purchased with a GC, I would've had no recourse and been out a lot of bucks. If you are going to do it, definitely don't do it on iTunes GCs.

    • They work ok. If you are doing this you should get the sam's club (online only) gift cards through raise pay for 5% back that raise is not pumping as a sale. Or walmart gift cards at gyft.com with ink cash through paypal for 5x

    • I used the gift cards to buy other gift cards except VGC at Sam's Club com. It works great.

  • The only thing is, these print at home gift cards can't be used in the self checkout. This makes you get on a long line to wait to checkout.

        • Why do you need a printed receipt? If you want to return something app version works fine.

        • If you want a receipt, after totaling the sale just drop any coin into the payment slot at the self-checkout (I usually use a penny or nickel); once it registers tap "Pay another way."

You'll be presented with the WMP QR code again... scan it with WMP business as usual.

Once the sale completes you'll get a paper receipt, plus you'll be able to submit the receipt to the Savings Catcher (until they kill it, anyway). Other than the minor inconvenience of having to have a different tender type handy it's the best of both worlds.

This is how I've been 'forcing' it to give me a paper receipt when I know I'll need one - it's easier than emailing an electronic copy to myself.

Note: Using a coupon will *not* force a receipt; it needs to be a different form of split-payment.

Edited to add: I've been able to use print-at-home WM gift cards at the self checkout before (without WMP), I had to use the hand scanner, though.

        • You can email a receipt to yourself with walmart pay. Whether that works for ibotta I don't know.

  • I did this in three transactions. The first one was a $200 card for $200. The second one was a $200 card for $194 (using the $6 raise cash from the previous order). The third one was a $100 card for $94.18 (using the $5.82 raise cash from the previous order). Still have $2+ raise cash to use up from this last one.

  • Used to be a Costco fan until I found you can easily get Walmart GC at discount. Walmart GC works at Sams club Recently I gotten 10% off thru their promotion. Plus I usually get my Sam’s club membership for free. Unlike Citi Sychrony doesn’t cancel your credit card if you don’t maintain your membership. Now I’m paying $60 a year to keep my Costco credit card which is one of my oldest account (they kept the history when it was transferred over from AMEX) ugh

  • Raise is offering 5% cash back on first-hand Sam's club gift cards in $15-25 denominations, not sure if they can be used at Walmart though.

  • This is 3% raise cash to be used on a future order, correct (as opposed to off the purchase price of this order)? I think these can be used at Sam's Club, so this would offer a net discount of nearly 6% with my BOA card but not sure I'll be making any additional Raise purchases in the near future.

  • I usually get some Sam's Club gift card to use at Walmart when these is any promotion, like freedom 5% or Dosh 10%
