Capital One tried to go after the premium market? really?
I’ve read a few books on algorithms and AI and they’ll often mention the airline scheduling (along with wedding seating charts) as something that humans wrongly think is only moderately difficult to make robust, but is magnitudes more fragile even with supercomputer help.
And humans being narrative creatures we’ll craft a story to fit our world view/protects our ego. So Covid crowd will believe it’s about vaccines. The CEO will blame people outside the airline and god. Unions vs corporations, freedom florida vs rest of US, etc. When it really just might be a few call-ins, a couple vacations, a spattering of long refuels, and a fog delay – but that kinda of thing won’t generate content that stirs emotions and attracts attention.
Agreed. Nothing sells headlines like outrage.
Pretty sure airlines are gonna start selling vax passes soon. Board any flight with no vax or test for $100. Or $500/month for unlimited flights. /s
That Southwest rumor was an anti-vax meme and was quickly debunked.
Riiight…nothing to see here, folks.
Technically not debunked, as it’s impossible to prove or disprove. What we DO know is that Southwest’s primary explanations don’t make any sense. OMAAT clearly points out some of the issues. The Southwest CEO also made an appearance on CNBC to say he’s against vaccine mandates – why would he do that instead of discussing other issues? And why now, when there are vax rumors?
