  • So much hatred and division. Both parties to blame. When will this country have a new party that reflects the values of the largest middle segment? Is anyone else out there tired of FOX and CNN?

  • NYC already has too many Chinese & Middle-Eastern illegal immigrant drivers who already have SSNs and licenses. But it's a nightmare for someone to renew their license given the long queues of even more illegals queueing up to get licenses.

  • I moved out of NYC 20 years ago to an upstate town that is VERY safe and lots cheaper. The sanctuary laws put in place by obscene NY gov and mayors is ruining a long ago great state and city. All liberal cities are going to crap due to these insane policies. My old neighborhood is a disaster. Can not go outside anytime even to take a walk thanks to Cuomo and deB. And now Gilligan can get drivers licenses.Yeah they will get insurance too..Haha.And just last month an illegal who was sheltered by the sanctaury laws of the gov and mayor killed a 92 y/o woman. Just look at todays front page of the NY Post.. mayor admits he is crap.

    • liberals think illegals are all teenage south american women swaddling babies.... nope, sorry, those are just the ones being sex trafficked that you see posted all over the media! liberals even try to thwart convicted criminal illegal deportations, shows your where their priorities are

      • I don't think that and I'm one of those so called liberals. I think a lot of them are families trying to escape gangs and violence, or a hardworking kitchen worker or landscaper sending money home to his family... More than likely 99% of Americans wouldn't want to do the jobs that the illegal immigrants are doing.

        • Illegal immigrants are not permitted to work (nor even be here) so it's non-sensical to portray work as a "reason" to be here. It's absolutely forbidden, and should not be happening at all, so the whole "work" thing doesn't need to be discussed at all.

    • With all of the deportations and stopping at the border, crime should be down if illegal immigrants commit all that crime. That's not the case, in NY or elsewhere. There are even recent studies that say that illegal immigrants commit far less crimes.

    • Are you sure it's because of illegals and not guns? Or maybe it's because of tax cuts. Or perhaps jesus. You know the deranged christian's grabbing their women by their p%$$y. They are upto no good.

Please back up your BS with data that shows illegals are to blame for higher crime or you are just like that lunatic trump.

  • Why not authentication people using passports? Why is NY state ID so important for Global Entry? Almost seems like DHS is trying to make a political statement rather than focusing on their job.

  • What ppl should really be complaining about is the utter uselessness and waste of money that is the TSA. Save your latino-phobia discussions for Thanksgiving dinner. The TSA is terrible at screening and mulitple studies have shown the do virtually nothing. On my flight last week a guy pulled a boxcutter out of his bag while looking for a mint for his wife.

TSA is a make-work program. And not one that actually helps our society, one that inconveniences our citizens.

  • Bakkt seems like the kind of thing that is wildly stupid but could work -- the point of loyalty programs is customer loyalty to giving the customer the option to convert to cash or use at other stores completely undermines that. On the other-hand I'm sure the cash out rates will be awful and dumb consumers will blow their points because its "free money"

  • I’m no Trump fan at all, but the GE issue is purely because New York refuses to provide DHS the information they require to process applications. (The NY statute specifically prohibits sharing info with DHS). So no one who’s not completely being partisan or dishonest can point fingers anywhere but the NY State legislature on this one. Even California sends the necessary information so it’s not ‘retaliation’ as some claim.

    • This is true. Calif has allowed people to get DL's without proof of residency for a few years now, but Calif residents are still eligible for GE and Pre. The move against NY wasn't retaliation; it was a practical measure. The media has made it into a politically vindictive move.

    • Except this is hitting people even without driver's licenses, which is a significant number of New Yorkers.

And if it was totally innocent and kosher then why announce it on Tucker Carlson's show?

      • As noted above, if you say you have no drivers license, DHS checks the DMV database to verify that as well otherwise they’d just have to rely on your word which would obviously not be the best screening procedure.

    • If Global Entry application mandates to provide the driver license number, DHS can argue that they cannot process the applications because of it. But "You will need to bring your valid passport(s) and one other form of identification, such as a driver's license or ID card to the interview." So it seems driver license is not mandatory.

      • AlexL: you don't need to have a license to get Global Entry and a LOT of New Yorkers do not have a license.

      • It’s not the number they need, it’s the information in the state DMV database for the individual applying (& if the individual claims to have no license, it’s to check that this is true & there is no DMV record)

        • Thanks for explaining. I still don't like how it looks. I mean, if DHS needs to run the DMV database for global entry applicants, can the applicant signs the consent to give permission?

          • What information do they need from the state for global entry that they don't need for TSA pre-check?

          • The feds have jurisdiction over border crossing but the Constitution guarantees freedom of travel between states. That's why all the trusted traveler programs affecting international arrivals are affected, and the one for domestic flights isn't.

      • By ‘even California’ - if the law was a retaliatory measure as some are claiming due to New York’s sanctuary policy in some instances, then it would follow that Californians would also be effected as that state is even more so in that regards to NY, but California is not effected because in reality this is a bureaucratic issue where DHS requires specific info to process an application & NY deciding to stop providing it thus prohibiting new GE applications from being correctly processed as DHS would not be fulfilling the required checks required by the law allowing for GE

    • Yeah. I agree. Sanctuary is one thing. Actively working to thwart federal investigation is another. The Oakland mayor telling people of upcoming raid is obstruction of police work. That goes beyond providing sanctuary.

Liberals need to come to their senses.

      • good luck with that debit, they are getting more bats**t crazy by the day. even obama cant believe where the party has gone and there are rumors he may try to intervene if bernie gets too far

  • New York can have a secondary screening at their airports after global entry manned by state officers. Waste 20 minutes of everyone coming through global entry. This way they know they are catching all non new Yorkers and level the playing field.

    • That would be great. JFK & LGA are so awesome for quick & easy getaways that they definitely need to add that!
