  • These guys hold grudges like a mf and have been spun up in "social media defense mode" since the Arab spring. Ol dudes phone is definitely harboring some spy apps. I'd never set foot in that country again... Homemade baba ganoush from now on.

  • Well, that's a read. I've been through CAI maybe 5-6 times. I remember reading a story from not too long back of a vlogger bringing in a couple cameras and some equipment, they were trying to accuse him of a lot of things, like being a hired journalist intent on their downfall or something. I don't remember the exact story.

Not quite north korea, but I keep my head down when I pass through and careful of what I pack. I wouldn't expect a response like this to essentially an airport review though.

    • There's a very popular food review YouTube channel named 'Best Ever Food Review Show'. The host has seemingly travelled to nearly all corners of the world and is very rarely critical of any country/culture, but has made a video dedicated with his nightmare experience when travelling to Cairo, Egypt. Even though his camera equipment was confiscated and held for 2 days upon arrival, he was able to sneak some footage from his phone to show some of what he had to go through.

Video is named 'Egypt Travel Nightmare!! Why I’ll Never Go Back!!' on the YouTube channel 'More Best Ever Food Review Show'.

  • I have a friend who is visiting Egypt right now and is having a great time. While I can't support any gov't representative threatening a blogger, there's no need to suggest that Egypt is a "disaster to visit at the moment" because of it.

  • damn, domestic travel within japan was a really good deal with united+ana. still cheaper than using ana miles but not as good a deal than before.

  • Ben can come across a bit self-centered at times, but I think he's largely honest, fair, and decent. He's reliable in a world that often isn't.

  • "No such thing as bad publicity." Many Americans couldn't tell you what or where Cairo is; maybe this will make them curious.
