    • Why? Just because you can't read the piece it doesn't mean that others might not enjoy it

  • At least initially during the pandemic, a lot of hotels kept the room alone for 3 days after the checkout of the guest. E.g., you pay $100 for one night, and the Average Revenue per Room for that room during those dates then goes up from 0 (unoccupied and unpaid for) to $25/night. If you stay 2 days for $200 total, ARpR for the days in question immediately jumps almost two fold from 100/4=$25/ni to 200/5=$40/ni.

With the subsequent increase in travel after a near-total halt in March/April/May, during the summer the 3 day buffer has been changed to just 1 day at some properties where initially the buffer was 3 days (it seems a lot of these rules are local to a given property in a given location and according to local micro demand, varies highly even within a given metro and chain).

Sure, the hotels need every penny they can get, but there's already no protein or hot food for breakfast in most hotels right now, just the to-go bags with pre-packaged minimals, so, some lousy 500 points (2 bucks — probably the cost of the smart keys they give you) for the "green choice" is the least small-touch that they could offer their guests, IMHO. Most people who were doing Green Choice from the start weren't doing it for points — I always do Green Choice regardless whether or not I get the points. Sad to see it being permanently slashed. Because I'm sure this silly small amount of points was still the motivation of some folks to do a business trip as opposed to not do such a trip; you normally get these points even if the reservation itself is not eligible for any earn; so, I'm sure it'll be Marriott's loss on elimination of these benefits in the end.

    • These programs are always such non-sense. Half the time the hotel “doesn’t participate” and the other half you don’t get credit anyway. Meanwhile now they’ve just given up on cleaning the rooms “because COVID”. Can’t wait for room cleaning to be eliminated altogether and replaced by an additional fee for “housekeeping”. My current Marriott replaces hot breakfast with a “Greek yogurt muffin” and an orange.... Hilton at least still gives hot breakfast but you order it the night before and you get a to-go bag

  • Probably the same reason some rogue city national employee was taking applications from here. For commissions.

Here? The den of MS. That employee didn't give shit about his employer.

      • Times are getting tough for demagogues. Yahoo disabling comments. Companies flagging lies. 6 months of worldwide critical thinking training via Covid.

It's not as easy to get traction for hate as it was in 2016.

DoC's is more the front porch of MS with rocking chairs, swings, a slow speed ceiling fan with glasses of iced sweet-tea and lemonade and a BBQ out back to share the wealth of ideas of bank bonuses, churning and free food, CB, portals, points, an other goods for all with a galavnized tub of iced MS Hard seltzer.
