[Expired] (YMMV) Report: Chase 5/24 Rule Temporarily Suspended On INK Cards Through December 31st

Dansdeals reports hearing from an insider that the Chase 5/24 rule has been temporarily suspended on the INK cards through December 31, 2022. There are apparently some actual data points backing this up as well.

This is excellent news since now is THE time to sign up for Chase INK Cash and Unlimited cards which are right now running a special signup offer of 90,000 points bonus with $6,000 spend and have no annual fee. Instead of signing up directly, please use a reader’s referral link which can be found here – you’ll get the same offer and you’ll help a fellow reader. Or ask a friend for their referral and give them a nice points gift.

It sounds like all INK cards are included in the new temporary suspension which would make now a good time for someone who is over 5/24 to signup for the INK Preferred and INK Premier cards as well which are running their standard 100k/$1,000 signup offers.

Note, each business you own can get one of each of these cards. Someone with two businesses can potentially hold all 4 INK cards for each business for a total of 8 cards (though Chase might not approve more than one at a time).

Please report back in the comments below whether you had success in getting INK cards at above 5/24. Keep in mind – Chase INK cards always (?) go pending; wait it out and see if you get approved in the coming days or weeks.

  • Just got APPROVED on the 27th of Dec. for an ink unlimited at 7/24 the other day (7 personal cards opened within 24 months) based on the rumors that 5/24 wasn't kicking in. I got approved but I realized I wasn't logged in. It made me make a new account but I already have a business account with chase that has my many other chase cards. It's not coming up as eligible to combine. Did I just figure out a way around 5/24? I'm afraid to call a rep to ask them to combine the accounts since I'm over 5/24 and it seems they aren't realizing that I'm the same person. Entered in my SS and Business EIN correctly. Has this happened to anyone? Did you call?

    ALSO I have 22 credit cards, I know how 5/24 works :P

  • Just applied at 7/24 got denied within a few hours, tried calling today and notified that rejection was strictly due to the amount of credit cards I got in the last two years. Recon also mentioned the 5/24 rule.

  • Another DP - I am at 6/24 after getting bonuses on two ink no AF cards. Came across this recently and applied for another card just to see if it will go through. Got second cash approved immediately. First it said it's under review and then followed by an email saying I am approved. I already had two CIU and one CIC before. Applied for wife's before mine couple of days ago as well but hers is first business so it's under review. I applied mine on 12/2/2023.

    • Congrats! when did you apply? 1/2/23? was a bit confused as you might have had a typo there!

  • Used a user link yesterday, instant decline at 6/24. Letter states - too many accounts opened recently. Oh well.

  • Declined immediately. Called recon and they are not familiar with this new 5/24 exemption, so they declined again. Seems most folks below are unsuccessful too.

Sketchy rumor provides sketchy results. Shocking!

  • 7/24. Tried today and was rejected for too many cards in past 2 years, insufficient business deposit relationship and "business structure" (applied as sole prop). Is it even worth calling for teckb?

  • At 4/24, applied for my second chase ink unlimited in 6 months (last one approved in June). Got a denial letter the next day regarding too much credit. Called recon and shuffled credit around, was approved. Two of the same card in 6 months, just using SSN for business.

  • Instant denial for 5/24. I will be at 4/24 on Jan 27. I went ahead and applied on Dec 27 since I didn’t know when the 90k SUB is expiring. On Jan 28 will calling recon possibly help or will this application be too old?
