Our Verdict

These offers are always pulled early, so save it now. These offers do not earn fuel points unfortunately. Make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

  • Received a '10% off groceries when you get vaccinated' offer. It says to visit the pharmacy for details. Do you know if gift cards would count?

    • @guest_1197997 Assuming it’s the same as the 10% off coupon they give out every year for the flu shot, it won’t work on gift cards.

  • Gonna repost my comment from early May from a similar thread here.
If people are interested to know when the next deals like this are coming out:

"Flyertalk posts in their Sticky on page 1 the dates of Safeways GC promos:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1887398-safeway-vons-master-thread-2018-onwards.html As you can see the dates of 2020 match the ones for 2021!
So you can predict when the next promo is going to be (e.g. VGC starting May 23rd)"

My magic ball says, another VGC deal coming out on June 13th... :)

  • Looks like the "$10 off $100+ variable GC" days are over? I hope my guess is wrong.

    • Depends on your credit card bonus. Even with a 1% cashback, you make about $6 after fees. With Apple Card (2% Apple Pay) it's $9 ($6 + ~$3 from the card value), CSR its $7.50 (on travel purchases and pay yourself back bonus categories) ($4.50 + ~$3 from the card value)

  • How do they enforce the 1 per household? Has anyone actually run into that before? The offer appears on both my account and P2's, so we could each do it, using different payment methods of course.

    • The fam has 5 different Safeway accounts. Though BB has become too much of a pain to do this deal that many times anymore.

    • They don't. It's one offer per J4U account/phone number. You can do it twice yourself on separate transactions in a single visit with the different numbers and the same credit card.

And if you need to do it additional times, just create additional Just4U accounts. All you need is a different phone number and email address.

      • What does it mean by "twice on separate transactions in a single visit"? Does it mean any J4U offers can be redeemed twice in the same day?

        • You can only use it once per Just4You account, period. If you have more than one account, you can redeem it on any and all of them on the same day, in separate transactions. The poster I was responding to was talking about doing it on their and P2's accounts.

        • @guest_1195073 He means using two different J4U accounts (because Meatballs has two accounts in their household).

    • No reason to think it wouldn't. This deal has been around many times previously.

  • I wouldn't say the offer is 'pulled early', it's just a system limitation/policy where the offer has to be added a week before expiration. At which point it disappears and can no longer be added. So in this case the offer has to be added by 5/29/21.

    • No a good idea. You only get about $20, can't get $40 if you do not spend $400 in the 1st shot.

      • I'm also stacking w/WF deal (have done it before). If I bought nothing else I'd get $30 back not $20, since it's 2x$50 and 2x$100, but I'll just also buy $100 worth of groceries or other gift cards.

      • When I have the WF offer and this pops up, I buy the 2 50s, 2 100s and 100 other card like amazon or something. Since I use the cards organically, the various denominations are no big deal.
