Shoprite: Get 10x Ultimate Rewards Points when Using Chase Pay with Freedom or Sapphire Cards

The Offer

SapphireFreedom / Freedom Unlimited / Sapphire Reserve

  • Chase is offering 10x Ultimate Rewards points for Shoprite and shoprite.com purchase of up to $400 when using your Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, or any Sapphire version card

The Fine Print

  • Valid January 1st until February 4th, 2018
  • Valid in-store and online
  • Max $400 in purchases earn the bonus points
  • Please note that purchases made through ShopRite Delivers (ShopRitedelivers.com) are excluded from this promotion
  • Please note that purchases from ShopRite affiliate business such as Price Rite, The Fresh Grocer, Dearborn Market, and ShopRite Wine & Spirits stores are excluded
  • Valid on Freedom, Freedom Unlimited, Sapphire, Sapphire Preferred, and Sapphire Reserve

Our Verdict

Keep in mind this is a total of 10x points, not 10x bonus points. For example on the Chase Freedom you’re earning 5x points as part of the Q1 5x categories (and this will count towards the $1,500 spend limit) and then a further 5x on this promotion, Freedom Unlimited earns 1.5x on all purchases and then an extra 8.5x. They offered a similar promotion last month but it was only for 5x. Make sure to stack this with other Shoprite gift card deals that they periodically offer.

Received this offer on 3 Chase Freedom cards I manage. Valid for October 2018. Up to $400 purchase.

Is it confirmed that this offer is valid for the Sapphire Preferred Card? Most links I see mention the Sapphire Reserve or just the regular Sapphire Card.

Superbowl Sunday is the last day to take advantage of the bonus 10x multiplier.

I’m gonna use Chase Pay with Freedom in case CSR and CFU don’t post bonus.

CSR 9x points posted today as adjustment (not against the transaction, but you have to go into the UR rewards activity to see this adjustment). Same for Best Buy also.

DP: tried to use the chase pay today but the app wouldn’t open. Got message to try again later. Tried to open and close the app three times but no luck. Kept the receipt and DM Chases. They said too bad for me. No points.

Ended up requiring manager/supervisor override and having to show ID, but got two sets of 2x$200 VGC for both of my CF at a PA Shoprite where customer service is certain that their store takes Chase Pay (and they’re right).

So how long does it take for these points to post?

I made a purchase at shoprite on my CSR using Chase Pay…bought 2 * $200 VGC and transaction posted to my card but I only see 1x points posted in the transaction detail.

When I did this for walmart back in Nov, bonus 9x points showed up right when transaction posted. Not sure if its different because this had to be in store.

For my Freedom as well this posted immediately for this above promo – that is same time the transactions posted in full to the account, the bonus points also posted (and it was multiple transactions over few last few days). For my CSR it did not post immediately. So I waited a few days and SMd CS with the link. They agreed that the promo and my purchase are good but said it will take 1 to 2 billing cycles. I have 2 guesses:
1) Originally CSR was not supposed to be part of this promo, but they added it late and so they will have to comb all transactions at a later time and add the additional 9x points – likely will happen during monthly billing.
2) Other theory is that they added CSR late to stop people from leaving the CSR bandwagon given that a lot of people are coming up to their anniversary. By not giving immediate points, they are hoping people will wait for points to post before cancelling. (probably far fetched)

My ShopRite transaction from 1/20 posted today on both CSR and FU…. 1) CSR – No 10X posted when transaction cleared…. 2) FU Yes 10X posted when transaction cleared….

I sent secure message about CSR, and got the standard reply message saying “please be assured bonus cash back will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within one to two billing cycles.”

Hoping it automatically posts, but I suspect a follow up will be required eventually…

I also did not receive any bonus points for this Shoprite Chase Pay promo nor the Best Buy one. First call they said it will post in a day or two…statement issued and few days go by, still no bonus points. Called again and now they are “investigating” and will issue a letter in the mail 10-14 days from now. This is for the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Gee, glad I pay $450/year for this hassle!

I got an email from Chase today and in that email this promo seemed to be specifically for the CFU.

I think the latter explanation has a lot of merit actually…

there is now a direct link to the offer for CSR. I saw the promo when I logged in to my CSR account and clicked on the UR summary.
The direct link is below:
https://www.chase.com/digital/digital-payments/chase-pay/shoprite-sapphire-reserve

So even through my spend from last week did not earn the bonus, it has an official CSR page now which makes it unambiguous and easy enough to request if it does not automatically post.
