Sam, where did you see this posted?
If accurate, it must be S-R trying to give all the people who couldn't do the process at their local Shop-Rites another chance. One of the employees at S-R of Newark Delaware verified that their wi-fi was not properly set up to allow ChasePay to go through. Wife's iPhone with data did get through ONCE.
That first attempt that expires on the 31st was a huge FAIL.
just click the link above.
Just wanted to share, the above offer links have been updated. The offer is now from jan 1st to feb 4th for 10x!! for up to 400 dollars.
This has been the biggest boondoggle - tried to login to Chase Pay multiple times at Shop-Rite of Newark, Delaware. Each time got a different excuse as to why couldn't get through to the QR code required for payment. Went around and around with Chase, thinking they were the problem. Turned out Shop-Rite was blocking Wi-Fi except on their app. Don't know if data worked for anybody either, as I tried data once with no success. You'd think Wakefern Food Corp. would have planned this out better, since every checkout aisle has all the Chase Pay promo stickers displayed. Huge FAIL for Wakefern Food Corporation and their flagship, Shop-Rite markets. I wonder why some posters reported success in some New Jersey locations? - what was the difference between locations? Some are provided with Wi-Fi for customers and others aren't ????
I didn't either and just sent a SM to Chase.
Have you or anyone gotten any further feedback or points from Chase for this promotion?
Hm... I didn't receive 4x on my CSR for $100 purchase of GC. I wonder what's going on.
Unfortunately this promotion is useless as I've tried it at two Shoprite's and they had never even heard of it. One of them tried to scan the QR code but ended up just having to use a card after it didn't work. The manager said they don't accept that method of payment.
This is downright sad. Even the ShopRite shift managers aren't caught up on the full features of their store's own POS systems.
Maybe Chase needs to do a better job of educating its merchants?
I had the same experience. Most ShopRite cashiers are woefully under-informed about mobile wallet payments. The one who rang up my order yesterday had only ever heard of Apple Pay.
Safe to say that this deal is defunct, at least in Pennsylvania.
In NJ, this deal works just fine -- my neighborhood Shoprite was able to take Chase Pay. The cashier didn't realize she had to scan the QR code on my phone after pressing the Chase Pay button, so they may need a bit of help. :)
What chase pay button? Something that’s on the credit card machine or on the cashier side? Then what did the cashier scan the qr code with?
"Chase Pay" button? ShopRite's POS is notoriously old. Where is button located?
I keep getting conflicting info as to whether the CSP is eligible. Some sources I read say CSR is the only Sapphire card that is eligible. Some say both. Can anyone provide a data point that CSP counts for this (and the BB and WM.com) promotions?
The terms state clearly that all 3 Sapphire cards are eligible for this offer.
It would be more interesting to me if I hadn't (surprisingly) just been targeted by AMEX for a Shoprite deal. I bought Shoprite gift cards. Still, the amount I could buy was limited, and 5x UR points for grocery shopping is a solid deal.
No ShopRite in Central Jersey has the hardware to read QR codes at checkout, making this promotion effectively useless for me.
Even if I try to order gift cards online, ShopRite.com has no Chase Pay checkout option.
This is why I use Android Pay instead, which is NFC-enabled.
I just confirmed that ShopRite in Jersey City does not accept Chase Pay.
looks like they are not seeing Visa gift cards online and no stores near me. going to miss this deal :(
