SoFi Money $75 Slickdeals Rebate (Plus $100 Direct Deposit Bonus)

Update 7/16/21: Deal is back.

Update 7/2/21 SD bonus is now dead.

Update 5/20/21: The $75 SD bonus is back, and it stacks with the regular $100 direct deposit bonus that SoFi offers. (Referral bonus is only $50 for new member, I believe, so this SD offer is a bit better, unless you operate a P1+P2 setup.)

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Slickdeals is offering a $75 bonus when you’re logged into your account, go through their link and then open a new SoFi Money account and fund it with $125 or more.

The Fine Print

  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

This account doesn’t have any monthly fees to worry about.

Early Account Termination Fee

Not sure if there is any EATF or not, but there is no monthly fee and it’s worth keeping the account open long term for the spending bonuses.

Our Verdict

According to this page you can also get a $75 direct deposit bonus through 9/30/20, I’m not sure if this offers will stack or not. My guess is that they will, we have covered that $75 bonus in more detail here. Previously you could get a $125 bonus and stack it with that $75 bonus, so this Slickdeals offer isn’t as good as that unfortunately.

  • P2 got an accident settlement sent from her lawyers. She got an email saying her savings account qualified for the 4.6% savings account interest (after the money arrived in her account).

Does anyone know if this is an indication of a working DD?

    Edit: oops wrong sofi thread.

  • Plynk works for DD. It’s coded as Natl Fin SVC LLC. They also have a $50 offer on Swagbucks and a $75 deposit match offer currently.

The good thing about SoFi’s DD offer is that their evaluation period doesn’t start from the day an account is open, but rather from the day a first qualifying DD is received if it’s within its current promo period which runs the entire year of 2023 and is very likely to be extended.

  • I did the SB deal of 17,500 points. I got the $100 form SoFi but SB customer service hasn't responded to my several requests on why the points have not bene posted. I submitted a request via their help center 10 days ago and still no answer, though I emailed them as well via their form online. Under activities shows as pending, but I get a bad feeling they wont even answer me. Do you know how good they are in responding back and crediting points. I did send a screen shot as well of the DD and the deposited SoFi bonus so they can see I already met the requirement. Anyone suggest anything else or has experience dealing with SB? Thanks.

    • file bbb complaint against swagbucks parent company - prodege. That should get their attention.

  • Update to my comment about MyPoint 27,500 pts offer:
I was able to submit a screenshot of a real work DD to the SoFi Money visit that was marked Pending. Now they added the points to pending activity with 27,500 pts to be credited in 31 days.

  • DP: eBay Managed Payments triggers SoFi direct deposits ($100). Slickdeals $75 didn't track :(

    • eBay payouts no longer work for SoFi DD - set payouts to deposit at SoFi but my account remains ineligible for higher APY associated with DD. SoFi states:

"Non-qualifying direct deposits are ACH deposits such as:
      Check deposits
Peer to Peer (P2P) transfers (Paypal, Venmo, etc.)
Merchant transactions (Paypal, Stripe, Square, etc.)
Bank ACH transfers that are not from employers or payroll providers"

So I presume eBay would qualify as "merchant transactions."

    • I tried this and it didn't work. I switched my ebay account (not an ebay store or anything, just a personal ebay account that I've had forever) to do payouts to my SoFi account and they appear just as "Deposit". Does this require having a special kind of ebay account?

      • Hello there, I have an eBay seller account with a store.
In the app, I check SOFI's "activity detail."
Until 12/20/2021, the third entry below "amount $xxx" was "direct deposit payer: ebay edi pymnts."
After that date, on 12/22/2021, it will be "merchant: ebay payout."
        Perhaps it no longer works.

  • Opening the SD link, I get a little popup from MyPoints browser extension I have installed saying I could get 27,500 points (~$183 value using prepaid Visa for redemption). I don't see any SoFi Money offer on MyPoints' webpage. Can anyone comment on this?

Edit: Clicking link in the popup does get recognized by the system as I can see "Sofi Money" in the activity section of my account ledger on MP. However, the popup keeps appearing and the browser extension doesn't seem to have the offer activated. Also still haven't found an actual MP page with 27,500 points offer.

    • I decided to be the lab rat myself and signed up with MP link instead of SL's $75 bonus. It's marked as pending, so it did get recognized on MP's end. I'll update yall once it fully posts.

  • This is not churnable for SlickDeals. I got $75 for opening a SoFi Money account in October 2020 and closed the account in May. I tried again in September, and SlickDeals said I was ineligible because of the other bonus.

On the bright side, SoFi still gave me $100 for the direct deposit (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/public-offer-sofi-money-75-direct-deposit-bonus-for-existing-users/) even though I had received that bonus on the old Money account, and SlickDeals gave me $75 for the SoFi Invest promo (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/sofi-invest-get-up-to-2500-when-transferring-over-investments/)

  • DP: Transferring money using Astra.Finance triggers SoFi direct deposits. I think Astra.Finance may actually trigger all direct deposits. Does anyone one else have other data points?

        • @guest_1249438 @guest_1252109 @guest_1244690
How do you guys get Sofi to link to Astra? It only connects as "connected", not as "authorized" for me, meaning I can only see transactions, but not transfer any money.

    • Their app is the worst! It's absolutely terrible. It crashes all of the time and nothing will go through. They are aware of this issue for android and still don't fix it. I regret opening an account.

    • DP: Revolut worked for me a week ago, but with some special steps as noted below. @guest_1233936 @guest_1243473 @will
You have to add your personal bank account as a "Business" account instead of an "Individual" one (with the company name being your full name) and then once it's added, send your money with the Reference/Memo "Payroll". That should trigger the DD bonus.

      • hmm looks like revolut is now asking
        "what does the company do"
        and
        "Reason for transfer"
for a business beneficiary. Wonder if they're seriously checking what I put in these fields. Anyone has a DP?

      • It indeed worked. Do exactly as this person says guys lol. I did it last week. Got the 300$ bonus after the 30 days :-)))

        • sorry to dig up this old comment, but does Revolut still work for you for SoFi (checking) DD? thanks so much for your help.

      • What would be the personal account? Lets say I have a SoFi account (#2) and my personal main checking (#1), I am trying to transfer money from 1 to 2 using Revolut to trigger a DD, is the payee added as a business?

        • I have the same question. Perhaps you can try both, i.e., Add #1 as a business account to #2 and add #2 as a business account to #1.
