SFO Alaska Airlines Lounges Accessible Via Priority Pass Again

Update 10/5/21: SFO added again. That means SFO & JFK are now accessible. Hat tip to OMaaTLooks like this was wrong.

Update 5/10/21: That didn’t last long. Portland will leaving the Priority Pass network as of May 16, 2021.

Original post: The following Alaska Airlines lounges can now be accessed by priority pass members:

  • The Alaska Lounge Anchorage (ANC) South Terminal
  • The Alaska Lounge Los Angeles (LAX) Terminal 6
  • The Alaska Lounge New York (JFK) Terminal 7
  • The Alaska Lounge Portland (PDX) Concourse C
  • The Alaska Lounge Seattle (SEA) North Satellite

The restriction is that you can only access these lounges within three hours of your flight’s departure time. In addition Alaska Airlines reserves the right to restrict access based on capacity constraints. This is similar to how Alaska Airlines lounges used to operate, the major difference is that if a lounge is at capacity you can join a waiting list rather than just being turned away. Alaska Airline lounges seem to always move between accepting and not accepting Priority Pass so who knows how long this change will actually stay for.

  • PP sucks. I was so bummed to find out that the Seattle Alaska Lounge wasn't using Priority Pass. Ugh. It was right next to our gate.

  • During the depths of Covid I was in AL LAX every week with PP.

    Recently, the wait list got long, so I bought an AL membership.

    The best thing about AL and PP membership is that you can fly on any airline and still enter.

    Thanks to PP, today I am in the Swissport Lounge in Terminal 5 ORD. There is no AL here, so there is no other option at ORD besides Swissport.

  • The irritation here is that folks pay a credit card fee to, in part, receive Priority Pass. It is not free. And when the attendants act snobby or deny entrance on a regular basis that devalues the usefulness of Priority Pass. For example, I have had this happen in Bogota, Colombia with the Avianca National VIP lounge that more often than not refuses Priority Pass folks even when you enter during the approved hours.

    I think these lounges should be culled from Priority Pass list of lounges so that those lounges that welcome Priority Pass members get the business and those who only accept members when it is convenient and treat the PP folks like second class citizens get a permanent adios.

    • PP members ARE “second class citizens” to lounge members, first class pax, and alliance elites. That’s why PP members aren’t allowed in sometimes; to save space for those the lounge is catering to. I’m sorry that hurts your feelings. So yes, I agree those lounges should be removed from PP completely.

  • It's probably better for Priority Pass to just sever its relationship with Alaska. I'm still unhappy from my experience with a 3-hour layover at ANC two summers ago. The lounge WAS participating at the time, but the lounge matron still refused to admit me because it was "too crowded." During my 3 hours, capacity at the lounge never exceeded 35%. So better not to think you'll have lounge access when you may, arbitrarily, be denied anyway.
