Some Best Buy Stores Carrying Amazon Giftcards Again

Best Buy used to stock Amazon gift cards, they haven’t in some time but reader Matt M reports seeing stock during a recent visit. I believe this is a nationwide roll out, but it might take some time for other stores you get inventory in stock.

In terms of why you might care, most people spend money on Amazon on a frequent basis and we regularly see Best Buy promotions. For example, there are two current promotions:

    • I haven't seen one in at least 6 months. Best Buy still theoretically carries them, but I think a lot of stores have deliberately stopped stocking them. Certainly all the stores within 50 miles of me have. Very annoying since it was definitely worth the MS effort on my US Bank Cash Plus and the upcoming Citi Dividend quarter. Maybe find a place in the country that stocks them and take a vacation. :)

  • Grabbed a $100 variable + $200 variable Amazon using Amex -- credit posted fine

  • that chase pay offer is not a public offer I wrote that in the original post but nobody is fixing it. I talked to chase customer representative and she told me it is a targeted offer. I have a chase freedom unlimited. Even though I have spent $200 at best buy trough chase pay, she told me I won't get my bonus. Users BEAWARE!!!!

    • We talked to Chase's media team directly and they have ensured us it's a public bonus. This has happened in the past and the media team is always right vs the front line customer service reps.

  • 2 Best Buys in Central NJ had them as well. And they were well stocked - not just a a few cards but almost two full rows in various denominations.
In addition to the Amex/Chase I would also add that buying these get BB rewards and also count to BB rewards Elite qualification and you can use BB rewards to buy these as was mentioned below.

Still if just looking for a discount on Amazon cards the better way that still works is to buy eBay GC from BB and then use that to buy Amazon on ebay from sellers listing in non GC cat when ebay has the coupons. Combined with ebay Bux and CB this would work about 5% better.

        • Lots of scams involving gift card sales from private buyers and sellers. I’ve sold Cricket refill cards, told the buyers I scratched the code to ensure the amount was loaded, and get nailed with “item not as described” as they come back saying it was never activated or was already used. Ebay sided with the buyer, never again will I mess with prepaid/gift cards through private sellers/buyers.

  • I posted about this last week in the best buy amex thread. I had the amex offer on my 17 cards and did multiple runs to convert to Amazon. Also keep in mind that with the IRS scam, Best buy is limiting gc purchase to 3 cards per visit and some stores have randomly limited to $500 as well. They also ask why are you buying this high dollar Amazon GC.

    • Had no idea this was news. I've been buying AMZ cards at Best Buy since mid-August.

On 9/11 I was able to buy 4 $25 Amazon GCs as usual.
On 9/12 the register was suddenly hard-coded to only allow 3.

But it's not "3 gift cards". It's 3 gift cards of a specific SKU. So You can buy 3 $25 Amazon GCs and 3 $50 Amazon Gift cards and 3 $100 Amazon GCs and 3 variable Amazon Gift Cards all in one transaction if you like.

      • That is correct that its by SKU. But, some reps are so anal and keep giving their own version of interpretation. It all varies from store to store and rep to rep for now.

    • In a local Best Buy here that I was in just a few days ago, the transaction limit for gift cards was 3 (hardcoded). However, they let me buy more in a second transaction, but the cashier had to inform the manager about what I was buying and get the manager's approval.
