[Source] U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Will Stop Accepting Applications on November 30

(Update 12/21/20: Applications are back now)

A reliable source tells of a memo which went out today indicating that effective Nov 30, 2020 no new applications will be accepted on the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card. Possibly a temporary move, but we didn’t get any information on that.

The U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve card comes with a 50,000 points signup bonus which is worth $750 in travel.

  • I was just approved for the card and I just activated the card for Apple Pay. While on the line, I confirmed a couple of things with the CSR from the dedicated AR line.

    1. Travel credit reimbursements for dining purchases has no current end date

    2. I asked I noticed the card is no longer offered, are there going to be any changes to the card or rewards? She said no changes to the card that should affect you, we just are no longer offering the card. Of course these things can change, I just wanted to report back what I heard.

  • @chucksithe , not directly related but you should unify your tag format.
In the previous USBAR post regarding $325 being redeemable via dining, the tags were
"us bank" "us bank altitude reserve" "us bank credit cards"

In this post, the tags were
    "altitude reserve" "u.s. bank"

Meaning it's impossible for the two posts to find each other because the tags happened to be mutually exclusive.

  • After finding out this article, I called the nearest branch on 11/25/2020 and applied for the AR as an existing customer. I have gold checking with $30 deposit, US Bank Cash+ credit card, and an unsecured LOC for over two years. Application was under review at the end of the conversation. Got approved with $10k CL on 11/25.

Prior to the AR approval I was 0/6, 1/12. HP was TU with two inquires: one for mortgage lending and one for business BoA credit card opening.

Thanks DoC and keep up the good work! Happy Thanksgiving!

  • I was planning to apply for the card on Dec 3rd, not sure if I should wait or apply now just in case. Any recommendations?

  • With more and more point-of-sale terminals supporting contactless pay (and people being encouraged to use it) I wonder if the 3x benefit is sustainable.

That's allowed me to get 4.5% back on a lot of "big" transactions that would otherwise be unbonused- dental bills, car repairs, vet bills, any physical store etc.

    • Yes, I spent a few thousand at living space, and insist on Apple Pay to pay it (they tried four terminals and finally worked lol) definitely worth it, few hundreds back lol

    • I’ve been crushing at least $4k/mo on mobile wallet since the card launched. My absolute favorite card. I’ll be very upset if it goes away. Gravy train can’t last forever I guess. Will cash out my points on “travel” this week just in case.

It’s also a great boon to folks who have a P2 who isn’t interested in the game. “Use Apple Pay everywhere possible” is agreeable enough for my P2.

  • If you log into the Altitude Reserve Rewards Center you’ll see that the card has been redesigned (vertical like the no fee Altitude card, a “RESERVE” written down the length of the card). I think they are getting ready for a relaunch.

  • I have been on the fence with this card. I opened up a bank account for the $400 bonus figuring I would get this card eventually however there are several chase cards that I want and I'll be at 4/24 in February with my next new account drop off in June.
