Our friends over at Frequentmiler heard sources that the Citi Premier card is retiring on May 9, 2024. A new Citi Strata Premier card will launch on May 16th.
We don’t yet have details on the new card. Reports are indicating the signup bonus will be 75,000 points after spending $4,000 within the first 3 months.
Some people might want to jump on this final chance (May 8th) on getting the Citi Premier card with a 60,000 points signup bonus. However, reports are that the signup bonus eligibility for the Strata version will be tied to the legacy Premier version, and so you’re better off waiting and applying under the likely upcoming 75k bonus.
We reported last year on Citi filing trademarks for Strata Premier and Strata Elite. I’d assume the Strata Premier is meant as replacement for the Premier card and then they’ll possibly launch also the Citi Strata Elite as a replacement for the more expensive Prestige card. We’ll be sure to post again when we learn more.

What was wrong with the "Premier" name?
This is a good everyday card for your typical elite type who does some travelling. I always recommend it to friends and family, at least for the sign up bonus.
strata - noun
a baked dish that is made up of layers of bread, cheese, and meat or vegetables over which a mixture of eggs and milk is poured and that is usually refrigerated before it is baked
Who is getting paid to come up with this crap?
Tell me you're from Texas without telling me you're from Texas.
Plural of Stratum:
a level or class to which people are assigned according to their social status, education, or income.
"members of other social strata"
No idea on annual fee?
Judging by everything else, I would expect it to be the same as the current Premier Annual Fee.
Are they going to cut back on the travel insurance after 3 months! Citi cannot be trusted, Without trust you cannot invest yourself in a credit card company.
I mean it took a few years, but I get what you mean.
They axed the AA lounge benefit much more quickly
I wonder if everyone is going to be automatically migrated or if it’s going to be a legacy card product change option for existing cardholders.
My guess is legacy card based on Thank You Preferred, Dividend, Sears ThankYou, and maybe others.
Can you currently hold multiple Premier cards? I have a Citi Premier right now that I got the bonus on in February 2020. Just finished a retention offer of $3k spend get 10k TYP.
I just got a second Premier (for some product juggling), and got the 60k SUB.
Had two for a short time before PC'd the first into a Rewards+
I had 2 premier cards about 3 years ago
Doubtful we see any DPs, none of the spend categories are capped so an extra Premier card would be a waste of $95.
10X Points on Hotels, Car Rentals and Attractions booked through CitiTravel.com
3X Points on Air Travel and Other Hotel Purchases
3X Points at Restaurants
3X Points at Supermarkets
3X Points at Gas and EV Charging Stations
From Google
So, they added increased earnings for EV charging and attractions through their portal.
It also looks like they may be re-adding travel protections and benefits.
Well at least the 3x on all travel, gas, dining and supermarket stays.
Strata Premier SUB: 75,000 ThankYou points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months.

I'll add a note, thanks
As for card details, you can partially see them when searching on duckduckgo. Strata Premier should be pretty similar or identical to Citi Premier. https://duckduckgo.com/?va=g&t=hg&q=citi+strata+premier&ia=web
Also "Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi Premier ® or a Citi Strata Premier ℠ account in the past 48 months".
Ugh, too bad it is not a "new product" so it bypasses the 48 month rule for SUB
After all this hype, it better be worth it
In fairness Citi made zero hype. Strata was only discovered by snooping around
