How does "checking existing reservations" work exactly?
Just enter the code and search your previous flights to see if it applies. I did this, of course it doesn't apply to any of mine.

FYI I believe some intra-CA flights will still get a discount. Worth a try. Not sure why SNA is excluded but flights to LGB are very cheap and you can pair that with an Uber/Lyft to get you to SNA-area places for likely cheaper than going directly to SNA
Perhaps this is the reason. SNA has passenger capacity restrictions set back in 1985. Rich folks get what they want.
