Sprint Extending Free Plan Until 6/30

Some people are still on the free Sprint Unlimited plan. It looks like people that still had active accounts as of late March have been extended until 6/30. It should show up in your online account, but if it doesn’t people are also having success calling/chatting to get the extension.

  • Doesn't look like this is getting another extension... so far anyway. Still shows a 6/30/20 end date. I was hoping they would put it off until the official name change to T-mobile and then offer us a decent price on a plan before the frugal people like me jump ship. I am going to miss $8/mo cell bills for two lines. Unlimited data is way overkill for my fam... we use like a couple of GB a month total, maybe 3 or 4 each if we are on vacay.

  • Unfortunately I saw this after I began porting my number to GenMobile (referral link: [removed]) which is a cheap provider. They work on Sprint's towers so no need for a SIM card purchase. I bought the $15/mo. plan that has 1gig of data sonce I use WIFI for most of my internet needs. So far they have been good but this Sprint Unlimited plan was incredible. I signed up for it last year and travelled for 10 months in Europe and S. America, never charged any additional fees while visiting about 20 different countries. I had good service the entire time and my monthly bill never exceeded $5/mo. Jump on this plan if it's available to you.

  • Well this came a little too late. I just ported mine and P2's numbers over to a new service on 4/1. Oh well, the service was truly awful, but free is free.

  • For those (like me) trying to figure out if you have been extended on the Sprint Unlimited Free plan;

    - Login to the desktop site. (probably available on app too)
    - Click My Account in upper right, & click change plan.
    It will show:
$5/line/mo up to 5 lines. (up to $60/line value free with AutoPay until 6/30/20)
Requires $5 per line/per month AutoPay discount.
Savings until 6/30/20; then $60/mo. for line 1, $40/mo. for line 2 and $20/mo./line for lines 3-5 with AutoPay
    - Close out of the webpage and rejoice you're getting reasonably OK cell service for 2 additional months for less than $5/mo/line.

Thanks for the heads up @will. I chatted with them last month to verify the end date of the promotion because I couldn't find it on my account. Based on that chat, I was expecting to pick a new service at the end of April.

Also, for those looking for the best deals in wireless, I ran across this website for comparison shopping the budget providers: https://bestmvno.com/

I am leaning toward Total Wireless or maybe Mint Mobile if the deal is right, but now will decide in June. My P1 & P2 are low phone data users, but if we are going to pay full price, it better work well when we do use it. And, I don't want to porting our numbers a few times a year...

    • Great find! Yep, my plan was set to expire 4/30. Now extended to 6/30 automatically. Plus the 20GB hotspot is a nice bonus again this month!

    • Thanks Gadget. Your information helps a lot.
I'm also a low phone data user and I use Freedompop prepaid plan which can be bought from Target. Some don't like the company on Slickdeals, but it works fine for me.

  • Looks like I'll have to return my Mint Mobile SIM card that I ordered from Best Buy to replace my Sprint FREE plan.

  • I'm on their half price plan, considering to port my number to a minimal plan for emergency, because who wants the data anymore?

    • I don't need the data myself so I've been looking at switching from my free plan, luckily now don't have to worry until next month. There is a T-Mobile plan for this like $20/mo. It has to be done in store though so can't really do it now until it reopens, hopefully next month.
