The Offer

  • The Square Cash Debit Card is now offering all customers something called ‘Cash Boost’. Basically you choose one place or category to earn cash back in. Some examples:
    • $1 off at coffee shops ($1.5 minimum spend)
    • $1 off at Subway ($1.5 minimum spend)
    • 5% off at Whole Foods
    • 10% off at Chick-fil-A
    • 15% off at Chipotle
    • 10% off at Panera
    • 15% off at Shake Shack
  • You can change your boost once every 24 hours and you can use it once every 2 hours

Our Verdict

They tested a similar feature on a small subset of users, offering $1.5 back at coffee shops. $1 back at coffee shops is still great though, especially since those transactions are usually small and frequent (e.g daily cup) rather than one large purchase less often. Quite sad that this debit card has a better rewards program than the Chase Starbucks card. You should also still be able to get a $10 bonus for sending money via Square cash the first time.

  • So they banned me for getting $50 gift card in CVS about 2 years ago.
    Any way to get unbanned?

    • Used to be great pre pandemic. $1 off on any coffee shop, 10% back on chipotle and several others. I used to use it everyday when I was in college. Then pandemic happened, valuation went through the roof. I haven't seen any promising cash app offer for last four years.

I won't recommend it as they're super paltry of offer's.

    • No, it’s not worth it anymore.

And you should familiarize yourself with the Salinas, et al. v. Block, Inc. and Cash App Investing, LLC class action details.

    • there used to be great deals, now few and far between. still, no credit report or chex hits to get it, so may as well

    • It's useful for Checking accounts that require 'x # of transactions each month" you can load cash app from the banks debit card.

      • Do you know what the minimum load amount is to do this? Can you link multiple cards in cash app or just one at a time? (I’ve got a couple accounts that require both minimum transactions and minimum spend requirements, either per transaction or per month)

        • Debit card reloads is about the only thing it is good for. You can only link one at a time, not sure on the min. load amount is but I always use $1... Takes about 5 consecutive loads to lock my onpath card.. Then txt to unlock and keep on a loadn. It ain't much but its honest work.

  • No Walmart for either of our accounts, but we both have 20% off for Lyft and 15% at Google Play. Have a blessed rest of your day!!

    • Keep in mind that Google Play can be used to pay for YouTube TV subscription. Not a bad deal considering the cost of YouTubeTV!

      • Nope, it is rarely used. But I got the $10 off any purchase some time back.

    • How does it work exactly at purchase time?

Like you have something for $10 in the cart, you buy it, then cash app loads $10 to the card?

Or, you have something for $11 in the cart and you only pay $1 when you buy it?

        • IME, you only need to have $OrderAmount-$10 in your account. For example, if you have zero balance, you can buy $10 at Walmart as CashApp won't charge you anything after the $10 instant discount. @guest_2031256

          • idk previously if I didn't have the full order amount on my card it would decline. Been a few years since I tried that so maybe it's different now.

          • Nice, just added $10 item to the cart and paid for it with no money in the account. YALL WE GOT FREE CONFEEFEE UPNHUR

      • I received a $10 off $10 on purchase offer (not walmart, anywhere). I loaded $15 to cash app, but when checking out, it only charged the price minus $10.

    • Me too! I used to use my card multiple times a week for the 10-20% boost deals years ago, but now I maybe use it 2-4 times per year for the occasional 10% Lyft boosts and misc.

  • 30% off DoorDash (can't use my free DashPass from Chase) is still more expensive than using DashPass and paying with gift cards I bought at a discount.
(For delivery at least; maybe for pickup this could be useful.)

  • We checked both accounts, but, alas, no luck. However, for Dashpass members, I would like to remind you that Doordash offers discounted gift cards. In addition...some stores ( Walgreens & Dollar General )...are now selling gc's on Dd. Just fyi...have a blessed rest of your day!!
