Our Verdict
You guys know what to do. The same deal last week (11/5-11/11) some people had issues initially with the rebate, but it seems to have worked in the end. Hopefully this one will go better. Here’s more information on Staples Easy Rebates. This deal will NOT stack with the Staples offer from Amex since that one is online only.
There’s also an instant-discount deal at Office Depot/Max this week.
Hat tip to reader wenyou wu
It was in fact a glitch and everyone’s accounts are corrected.
FWIW…Received email rejections on my two rebate submissions (Invalid UPC number). Apparently they made some adjustment to the promotion that caused a glitch. Was cleared up through chat discussion. Annoying..
I just talked to them via chat and they said that they corrected the problem. I also had the email rejection but when I checked my account, it looked fine. But, I contacted them to be sure.
Agree, it is annoying!
Does anyone’s Walmarts still accept these VGC’s for money orders?
The couple I frequent in central Maryland do but its YMMV. 1 of them ! have to hide the cards when I swipe and it helps that they have high counters so they really cant see over it. A associate at 1 of the stores warned me they have been scrutinizing swipe counts per transactions at the money center though and I noticed recently on the monitor after VGC swipe it says credit converted to debit. That might be tipping them off.
I have no problem exchanging VGC’s for MO’s at the two Walmarts in my area (MI). Meijers works best for unloading MCGC’s though they do have a $500 max per MO.
They have run out of the $ 200 MCGC/VGC in my area; I guess too much of these back 2 back deals.
Intentionally didn’t go today, b/c of the last fiasco: Rebate not printing on the receipt the first few days of the promotion. Has anyone done the deal today yet, and actually had the rebate form print on the receipt?
Worked for me today.
BTW, I also bought 2 reams of paper ($1 each after rebate) using the $15 staples gift card I received from a previous promotion. The rebate on paper is a visa gift card.
I donate the paper to a local private school that provides a low cost education for families in need.
+1. Rebate printing normally
Rebate printed out normally on 2 of the usual Visa gift cards, and submitted fine–no “still being determined message”.
However a few hours after submitted I got an email saying it couldn’t be processed do to invalid SKU (here we go again!)
fortunately this was allegedly corrected via chat on the stapleseasyrebate page
Same here. Invalid UPC Number
Like the way you think! 🙂
No VGC no deal.
What are some ways/methods people are using to unload the giftcards?
I usually sell them for $13 Amazon credit
Spoke with Staples manager last week. He said they will continue to have these offers a least once a month indefinitely. I love this deal. I purchase $400 in GC’s every time they have the deal. I get 5% back on my business card and get another GC on top of it. Even if I only get a Staples GC, I can save them up and buy a new gadget, or whatever, for free. If you can beat that, great, l’m always looking for input on the best deals around.
How does selling them for $13 amazon credit work?
How do you do that? Any info will be much appreciated
you can still buy toilet paper/paper towels/wipes/bandaids/dish det/aspirin. etc. Why not use the Staples gift cards for these. They also have deals on these products. haven’t paid for these products in years.
These deals are getting shittier. All my local walmarts don’t take nameless gift cards anymore. My backup liquidation cost 3%… so with this deal:
I pay: $413 + $12 in liquidation fees
I get: $400 + $12 (let’s be real here) Gift Card and $20 in cashback
Net: $7… why bother?
I only do it because my employer pays commissions on a manufacturer award card which can only be used at certain stores.. by getting the GC I can convert some of it to cash, and these deals help to avoid the transaction fee losses.
But I guess my situation is pretty unique..
Isn’t there an OD/OM promo starting the same day? So much more preferable…
Assuming you still have OD/OM in your area. All the ones near me closed.
The OM near my son in SAT closed recently. Was hoping he could do the buy for me but was otherwise informed it was a no go.
